This Addendum modifies the Invitation to Bid (ITB) document(s) only to the extent indicated herein. All other areas not changed or otherwise modified by this Addendum shall remain in full force and effect. This Addendum is hereby made an integral part of the ITB document. Bidder must be responsive to any requirements of this Addendum as if the requirements were set forth in the ITB. Failure to do so may result in Bid rejection. See the ITB regarding requests for clarification or change and protests of this Addendum, and the deadlines for the foregoing. This addendum is to be acknowledged in the space provided on the Bidder Certification form supplied in the solicitation document. Failure to acknowledge receipt of this addendum may be cause to reject your offer. There are times when the price is added on site right before the bid is sealed and delivered. A Put everything that is in your official sealed bid on a flash drive or cd/dvd except the bid price.it may be excluded from your electronic copy. Q Is there an engineer s estimate for the project? A $350,000 - $400,000 Q Was the existing covered play structure included with the original school construction or was it added later? A It was built when the school was built in 2008, so we have most of the original design drawings. Q Will the new covered play structure have sky lights like the existing one? 5 SA BEAVERTON SCHOOL DISTRICT Springville K-8 Site Improvements Permit Set Portland, Oregon Addendum # SECTION PART 1 GENERAL FIRE PROTECTION 1.1 SUMMARY A. Work included: 1. Designing and providing modifications to the existing automatic wet fire sprinkler to provide a water curtain system for the west wall of the existing Multipurpose Room directly adjacent to the new Covered Play Structure as required to provide a 2 hour fire rating for the roof structure in accordance with the latest edition of NFPA 13 and locally enforced codes and regulations. 2. Verify existing conditions and current water pressure prior to bid or design. 3. Coordinate sprinkler pipe routing with existing conditions and verify that new water curtain and existing wet systems will have adequate flow. Provide connection(s) to existing system where necessary to achieve proper flow and coordinate pipe routing and connections with general contractor. B. Provide hydraulic calculation as required to size the new water curtain system and assure proper flows. C. Include all permit costs in the contract price. D. Coordinate with appropriate sub-contractors to provide all miscellaneous appurtenances required for complete systems per NFPA and the local fire bureau. 1.2 SUBMITTALS A. Submit one electronic version of the submittals to the owner's representative for review. The submittals shall have major topic tabs and an index. Submittal items larger than 8 1/2" x 11 shall be a reproducible drawing. B. Include shop drawings with the submittals where necessary to determine clearance, where the contractor proposes alternate equipment or material arrangements, and when requested by the owner's representative. C. The owner's representative must approve all material and equipment prior to installation. D. Submittals shall include: 1. Manufacturer's catalog or technical data showing performance, dimensions, materials of construction and recommended methods of installation. 2. Specifically note locations of exposed piping on the shop drawings for Owner's representative review. 3. After Owner's representative's review, prepare fire protection system shop drawings as required by code showing location piping, piping sizes, valves, drain valves and other related items. Submit drawings to the governing fire bureau and appropriate insurance services (per owner's requirements) for review. After changes by the reviews are made, submit 5 sets of approved drawings to the Owner's representative. 4. Final submittals are to include the governing fire bureau stamp of design acceptance. PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.1 MANUFACTURERS A. Sprinkler Heads: Tyco, Viking, Gem, Central, Reliable or approved equal. 1. Sprinkler Heads: Heads to be U.L. listed standard product of the manufacturer, matching existing heads in area and approved for their specific use. 4. Non-Ceiling Area: Upright with standard brass finish. 5. Sidewall Heads: Satin chrome finish. 6. Provide the number of spare sprinklers required by NFPA code for each type in metal cabinet with sprinkler wrench. 7. Provide hard wire sprinkler head guards Fire Protection

Black Steel: Schedule 40 black steel or steel tubing with flanged, screwed or mechanical joint fittings. B. Other piping systems designed for fire protection systems acceptable if in conformance with NFPA, UL, other applicable codes and the local fire jurisdiction. C. Provide test orifices, miscellaneous valves, signing and appurtenances as required. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION A. General: Provide only NFPA approved and U.L., Inc. listed components. B. Provide complete hydraulically designed system(s) as required by the Oregon Structural Specialty Code edition, NFPA Standard 13 and the governing fire bureau. 1. Determine the hazard level, area coverage requirement, flow requirements, head spacing, etc. 2. The exact number of heads and design required will be determined by the contractor based upon drawings approved by the local fire bureau. The contractor is to provide fully designed and functional sprinkler systems meeting the requirements of NFPA and the local fire bureau. Provide all design, heads and equipment required for the complete functional systems. 3. Coordinate sprinkler mains with drain fixtures and verify adequate drain receptors are available for the system, inspectors test, etc. 4. Install wire head guards on new sprinkler heads. C. Provide hangers, brackets, supports, anchors and related appurtenances, as required, to support all piping and equipment provided under this section. Piping and equipment supports shall conform to NFPA Standard 13. D. Anchorage and Seismic Restraints: 1. The contractor is responsible to determine the means and methods of equipment installation and support. 2. Provide supports for all apparatus as specified, detailed, as required by the manufacturers of specific equipment and the project governing code authorities. 3. Provide seismic restraints on all mechanical equipment in conformance with the 2010 Oregon Structural Specialty Code; Section 1613 "Earthquake Loads" and ASCE 7. Costs for seismic calculations are to be included in the bid price. 4. Provide details directly to the governing code jurisdiction for anchorage to floors, roofs, etc., sway bracing and seismic restraints. Details to show locations and sufficient support details as required by the governing code jurisdiction. 5. Provide supplementary drawings and calculations as required by governing code jurisdictions noting seismic support data/calculations as required for permit purposes. 6. Mechanical seismic criteria is as follows: a. Occupancy Classification II b. Seismic Design Category C c. Component Importance Factor (Ip) 1.5 E. Sprinkler Head Installation: 1. Heads are to be coordinated with speakers, smoke detectors, ceiling grilles and other ceiling mounted appurtenances. 2. Spaces with multiple heads are to have the heads spaced symmetrically within the space. If more than the minimum head number is required for a symmetrical pattern within the space coordinated with other ceiling appurtenances, the symmetrical and coordinated appearance will govern the final layout and design. F. Piping Installation: Fire protection piping systems to be installed in conformance with NFPA Standard 13. Install all piping in a true and even manner with lines pitched for drainage and system arranged so it can be entirely emptied of water. G. Non-Ceiling Areas: Piping locations shall be exposed and coordinated with lights, ducts and other equipment. Review all exposed sprinkler head locations with the owner's representative prior to installation. H. Perform all tests and arrange for required inspections of installed system as required by NFPA Fire Protection

Contractors shall provide proper sizing when providing sleeves or core-drilled holes to accommodate their through penetrating items. All voids between sleeve or core-drilled hole and pipe passing through, shall be firestopped to meet the requirements of ASTM E-814. END OF SECTION Fire Protection
