4 Cutting-edge Solutions What are Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs)? Structural insulated panels (SIP) are composite building materials. They easily fit into each other, insulating while building the structure of the house. Saving you time, energy, money and manpower. They consist of an insulating layer of rigid polymer foam sandwiched between two layers of structural board. The board can be sheet metal, plywood, cement or oriented strand board (OSB) and the foam either expanded polystyrene foam (EPS), extruded polystyrene foam (XPS), polyurethane foam (PUR) or polyisocyanurate foam (PIR). High density polyisocyanurate insulation Polyisocyanurate (also known as polyiso or PIR) is essentially an improvement on polyurethane (PUR). The proportion of methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) is higher than for PUR and instead of a polyether polyol, a polyester derived polyol is used in the reaction. Catalysts and additives used in PIR formulations also differ from those used in PUR. Advantages of polyisocyanurate over polyurethane are... Higher R-value per inch of thickness Greater stiffness and dimensional stability Better compressive strength Superior performance in fire tests PIR insulation is typically produced as a foam and used as rigid thermal insulation. Its thermal conductivity has a typical value of 0.16 BTU*in/hr*ft2* F (0.023 W/mK).

8 Assembly and Training The panels are delivered key in hand. Each piece is precision machined and marked for quick and efficient assembly. SIP simplicity allows assembly without advanced technical skills. Installation of structural insulated panels (SIP) combines the simplicity of an interlocking system for quick installation. Moreover, as the panels can be carved on site, they offer the ability to quickly adapt to any changes or unexpected situation. Training at factory or on site is available on request.

There are many more designs available and manufacturers contacted have confirmed that they could manufacture from plans provided.
