5 SPIRAL STAIRS Westeel s spiral staircase makes it easy to access the bin s roof and inspection hatch safely. It can be installed ascending to the left or the right and features a continuous handrail its entire length. The top platforms can be installed at a full tier height location (in line with the eaves) or at a half tier height location (midway on the top tier). Stairs are spaced at six per bin tier, making ascension easier and reducing the likelihood of trips when descending. Sure footing is promoted through raised grips on every step, which also assist with proper drainage. PLATFORMS A number of platform packages are available for your Westeel bin including peak platforms and stand-off platforms that can be installed anywhere along the bin s sidewall staircase to provide conveniently placed rest and work areas. An interbin platform can also be installed between two bins at the top, allowing access to both bin roofs with a single staircase. ROOF STAIRS Roof stairs can be installed to the left or right of the inspection hatch to provide easier and safer access to the bin s roof cap and eaves. The roof stair package comes complete with a handrail as well as a mid rail for additional support. The stairs are the same as found on Westeel s spiral staircase and feature a raised grip for sure footing and proper drainage. LADDERS AND SAFETY CAGES When grain bin accessibility and safety are a concern, Westeel's ladder and safety cage products offer the perfect solution. 8 AERATION SYSTEMS FULL FLOOR AERATION SYSTEM Westeel s exclusive floor aeration system improves the performance, strength and long-term value of your Westeel engineered bin. Because they are manufactured by Westeel, they install easily on your new or existing Westeel bin and come complete with all required hardware. More important, they are fully tested and warranted by Westeel, thereby offering the greatest protection for your storage investment. SUPPORTS UP TO 100 FEET OF GRAIN DEPTH Completely reengineered, Westeel s aeration floor system now delivers incredible strength with its robust embossment in the flashing and plank top surface. The uniquely shaped support in the plank increases the structural strength and overall stability, resulting in a stronger floor that handles grain with up to 100 feet of grain depth. SIGNIFICANTLY EASIER, FASTER ASSEMBLY The floor planks have a 10" width which effectively cuts down the number of planks and assembly parts required by over 40%. Assembly is made easier by eliminating the need to play with the planks and supports to lock them in place: a strong support base is created by simply laying the planks over the supports. Finally, Westeel s computer assisted cutting process of all pieces ensures that everything fits together effortlessly, just as it should. 9 IMPROVED AIRFLOW FOR ENHANCED AERATION The more open design of the floor s welded supports provides for significantly improved air movement beneath the floor, increasing the total volume of air pushed through the grain mass. The planks themselves are available with two sizes of perforation: for small grains and for large grains. Their smooth top surface makes for easier clean-out and permits the use of bin sweeps. FOR MAXIMUM AERATION TO THE ENTIRE GRAIN MASS Westeel s premium aeration option, the Full Floor system, delivers maximum performance when you require full volume conditioning or natural air drying of your grain or oilseed crops. The system can be easily installed on all new and existing Series 14 through Series 48 Westeel bins. The system s unique use of multiple flashing, complete with appropriate hardware, provides a better seal at the bin s edge and reduces installation time. Additionally, Westeel s Full Floor system features a uniquely perforated flashing (which permits aeration near the bin wall) and full width perforation on the floor planks. The result is improved airflow circulation to the entire grain mass with no dead spots. WESTEEL ROOF VENTS Important for ensuring proper air flow and preventing blowing snow or rain from entering the bin (one of the most common reasons for grain spoilage), Westeel roof vents have been specially designed to fit your Westeel grain bin. The roof vents allow moisture laden air to efficiently leave the bin without the need of having to climb onto the roof to open the hatches. Westeel vents are easy to install and are constructed of galvanized steel. They come complete with a 3/4" or 1" mesh screen to prevent birds from entering the bin. HALF ROUND AERATION SYSTEMS Westeel s Half Round Aeration systems provide an economical solution for adding aeration to your new or existing bin. Available in both an in-line and a V shaped configuration, the half round system features galvanized steel ducts that are corrugated for strength. Specially sized perforations in the ducts permit aeration of all grains and oilseeds, including canola. The transition is aerodynamically shaped and made from non corrosive structural polyethylene. The half round system can be used for conditioning your grain when the first load of grain has been put into the bin. This system can be easily installed in any bin with a steel, wood or concrete floor. Because it can be broken into sections, it is also simple to install and remove. And clean-out is a breeze an important factor when segregating different crops. Finally, the system s low profile design keeps it stable without the need to fasten it to the floor like competitive systems. Temperature cables consist of an outer tube and inner removable tube and sensors, which allows for the sensing element to be removed for servicing, even with a full bin. Moisture/ temperature combination cable sensor nodes are non-retractable and totally encapsulated, protected from dust and contamination, and contain both moisture and temperature sensors. Both types of packages can be mounted to the bin roof with a flexible angle suspension head. CABLE COMBINATIONS StorMax cable packages are available with temperature reading sensors only, or with a combination of moisture and temperature reading sensors. WHY MULTI CABLES? Frequent logging and a well placed sensor system throughout the bin (especially in larger bins) are the two main ingredients to a complete monitoring program. Such a program will enable you to notice small changes and avert problems, before spoilage occurs. Since grain is an excellent insulator, temperature changes are slow to detect more than a couple of feet out from the sensing cable. For example, one center cable in a 42' diameter bin results in coverage of only 20% of the bin, leaving 80% of the grain unmonitored. For this reason, Westeel recommends a cable coverage pattern based on 6 m (20') centers, as shown in chart A below.
