Aylestone Broadlands School relocation manufacturer which was responsible for the off-site construction for this project. manufacturing drawings, off-site manufacturing, transportation and installation/ cranage including full Installation on-site Herefordshire Council 9 weeks 2 days 3 weeks September 2015 Aylesford School and Sixth Form College are delighted with the new Primary School build, completed on time and to planned specification. Now it is finished our staff and pupils are benefiting from the excellent facilities that the building houses. Simon Robertson, Headteacher Description: Full turnkey solution delivered from Design Freeze to Practical Completion in 13 weeks (16 including all ground works). The scheme comprises eight modules creating four bespoke classrooms relocating Broadlands Primary School onto the Aylestone Business and Enterprise College s operational site. Key achievement: This was achieved with minimal disruption and open in time for the new term commencing on 7th September, after only starting on site following the exams period in June. Off-site Design Management: Our in-house technical experts worked collaboratively with stakeholders and wider design team to produce drawings and refine specification including finishes, FF&E and ICT requirements to ensure that the Aylestone classroom extension was fully integrated with the existing building, ensuring that all interfaces were managed to meet educational requirements from beginning of the new term. Approach: Each module was completely manufactured off-site in a low risk, controlled environment. Key achievement: The speed of off-site construction for the extension, coupled with the high level and quality of the factory finish reduced time required on site, allowing this ambitious programme to be achieved without any disruptions to students and staff on-site. The classrooms which benefit from attractive cedar cladding, tall windows providing lots of natural light and ventilation, separate wet areas as well as ICT infrastructure, underfloor heating, and photovoltaic panels on the roof, were delivered on time, on budget and defect free. Key achievement: The building has achieved a BREEAM rating of Excellent and EPC performance of A+, in part due to the innovative use of underfloor heating controlled independently in each area, window alerts to maximise fresh air and minimise wasted heating, coupled with the energy generation delivered through the PV panels.
Cambridge International School Adaptable Assembly/Dining Hall delivered through its in-house modular manufacturer which was responsible for the off-site construction for this project. manufacturing drawings, off-site manufacturing, transportation and installation / cranage including full Based on our compliant off-site manufactured education module, our team was able to join together units to replace a temporary structure, creating a new purpose-built facility for use, in this configuration, as a dining and assembly hall. The modules are adaptable and designed to be re-configured as the needs of the school change over time. Project length Cambridge International School 7 weeks 1 day 2 weeks October 2015 Our new hall has given us the flexibility to install a new school building, which can be relocated as the school grows, develops and reconfigures future-proofing the school with a modern, cedar-clad building which fits in within the school s natural environment. Glyn Knowles, Headteacher Description: Cambridge International School required a relocatable modular building to replace an existing marquee as an assembly and dining hall. The building was rapidly installed on a live site. Key Achievement: Designed to be future-proofed and adaptable as it was designed to be moved as part of future development plans, to become a sports pavilion in the school grounds, or teaching space based on the school s future priorities. Design: Our technical team and in-house designers worked with the school to ensure that the design incorporated all their requirements and specification, including finishes/facias, FF&E, ICT and the requirement for the building to be adaptable. Approach: Poor drainage conditions were overcome utilising pad foundations, enabling the re-routing of existing drainage connections. All units were unloaded in one afternoon, minimising disruption and Health & Safety risks on the live school site. A 100 foot crane was used to lift the units over a boundary hedge and kept all heavy traffic movements away from the school, causing considerable excitement amongst the schoolchildren! Key achievement: Modules were joined on the same day, leaving the building water-tight from Day 1. Prompt connecting and commissioning of the pre-installed electrical and plumbing and internal finishing work enabled the first assembly to be held in the new hall, only ten working days after delivery. Fully clad, in western red cedar, and adjoining an attractive decking area, the new school hall delivers vastly superior accommodation than the previous marquee and far surpasses current building regulations, offering a value-for-money solution with significantly lower running costs.
Cotton End Lower School 3 classroom & pre-school extension manufacturer which was responsible for the off-site construction for this Bedford Borough Council Classroom Replacement Programme. transportation and installation/cranage including full Total Project length Installation on-site Bedford Borough Council 4 months 6 weeks 2 phases, under a week for each phase 3 weeks November 2014 The classrooms are ideal - the perfect learning environment. The pupils take real pride in their new buildings and this is reflected in their positive approaches to lessons. The underfloor heating works very well; it s like a home from home Karen Headland, Headteacher Description: Cotton End Lower School required replacement of old mobile classroom units and installation of a full turnkey solution for three bespoke classrooms and a pre-school classroom. The classrooms benefit from tall windows providing lots of natural light and ventilation, and the children particularly love the underfloor heating, allowing them to sit comfortably on the floor for reading time. This bespoke classroom block has generous toilet provision, a dedicated access WC, cleaner s cupboard, storage and own plant room. The cloak space is located with the WCs between the classrooms providing direct internal and external access keeping the classrooms free for learning. Design: Our internal technical/design team translated key design requirements into an exemplar product delivering a robust, innovative, high quality off-site modular solution. Our solution continues to provide modern, naturally lit, well ventilated, permanent teaching spaces with greatly improved ICT provision, low running costs, tailored to meet the School's requirements. Off-site Design Management: Our in-house technical experts worked collaboratively with stakeholders and wider design team to produce drawings and refine specification including finishes, FF&E and ICT requirements to ensure that the new facilities met educational requirements from Day 1. Approach: Rapid build was made possible by our innovative off-site construction methodology, allowing for a speedy on-site installation which minimised disruption to the school. Key achievements: The building has achieved a BREEAM rating of Excellent and EPC performance of A+, in part due to the innovative use of underfloor heating controlled independently in each area, window alerts to maximise fresh air and minimise wasted heating coupled with the energy generation delivered through the PV panels. An early site survey identified potential access issues and our installation and transport partners resolved this by liaising with neighbouring landowners and laying a track suitable for the delivery vehicles across adjacent agricultural land, ensuring that the programme was met and disruption minimised.
Hazledene Lower School Two new classrooms and two Careclub units manufacturer which was responsible for the off-site construction for this project. transportation and installation/cranage including full Total project length Bedford Borough Council 12 weeks 2 days - during a 2 week period 4 weeks September 2015 "Our new classrooms provide the pupils with an environment that they want to learn in. They are light and bright. The entrance is spacious which allows the children plenty of room the hang their coats. The main classrooms are much bigger. The whole process from beginning to end went very smoothly and the design team worked with us to ensure that the end result was just what we needed. The classrooms are definitely a wow factor. I am now waiting our first electric bill as I am sure with the solar panels and the more efficient heating system our bills will be much lower." Mrs H Ward, Headteacher Description: Hazledene Lower School required a full turnkey solution to replace outdated mobile classrooms with two new classrooms and two separate Careclub classrooms, which was designed to include integrated kitchen and office areas. With a combination of white render and cedar cladding the classrooms have a fresh modern look, with tall windows providing lots of natural light and ventilation, and underfloor heating maintaining a cosy ambient temperature, resulting in a very pleasant learning environment. The school is pleased with the operation of the units and their value for money, particularly the low heating costs, generated from the inclusion of photo voltaic panels on the roof. Off-site Design Management: Working as part of an integrated design team, our standard design was tailored to the requirements of the Hazledene Lower School through collaborative working, ensuring that all key output requirements, including ICT, finishes and FF&E were fully specified and understood, allowing a clear design sign-off process, including the production of Room Data Sheets prior to factory manufacture. Key achievement: The building has achieved a BREEAM rating of Excellent and EPC performance of A+, in part due to the innovative use of underfloor heating controlled independently in each area, window alerts to maximise fresh air and minimise wasted heating coupled with the energy generation delivered through PV panels. Approach: Construction was undertaken during term time requiring stringent Health & Safety protocols given the nature of the live school site and to minimise the impact on the school, although the children did find the cranes used for delivery particularly exciting! Time from delivery of the classrooms to occupation was only 6 weeks.
The Learning Factor, Croydon Standalone Teaching Classroom delivered through its in-house modular manufacturer which is the leading modular manufacturer for developer Modular 500, and was responsible for the off-site construction for this project. transportation and installation/cranage, including full Learning Factor 6 weeks Overnight 4 weeks November 2015 The incredibly energy efficient modular classroom unit supplied for The Learning Factor s innovative education space, was delivered to specification, time and budget, and installed in a tight four-hour night-time window, to allow for minimum disruption to normal retail business on site. With a track record of delivering over 300 similar modular structures, the team surpassed themselves with the quality of their attention to detail and ensured that the client s requirements were fulfilled completely, efficiently and at optimal cost. David Wadsworth, Managing Director, Modular 500 Description: The Learning Factor required a tuition classroom to be built on an extremely large, live retail site immediately adjacent to the Ikea store in Croydon. This innovative learning facility includes teaching space, kitchen and ancillary areas such as meeting room and toilets. This self-contained learning environment can be simply reconfigured, extended and/or moved to another site, to be used as a school classroom, as part of our adaptable, future-proofing solution. Key Achievement: Tailoring and adapting our compliant teaching accommodation to The Learning Factor s specification and vision. Creating an instant and self-contained learning environment in the centre of a busy retail environment, with the potential to be re-located or extended in due course. The attractive, light and airy timber and render clad classroom units were delivered to site by lorry and were lifted into position in four hours during night-time. The speed of modular construction enabled all construction works to be completed after business hours to minimise disruption. Design: Our retained in-house design experts were able to ensure that all client requirements were integrated into the final design solution, including ICT, FF&E specification, internal and external finishes including visible branding, as well as meeting statutory approvals and transport impact implications. Key achievement: The client required occupation before the December Christmas shopping window to minimise disruption to the adjacent IKEA store, and specified an overnight installation to protect sales and to minimise any Health & Safety issues.
