5 Version Information Welcome to the Theoretical Background for National Annexes to EN This document provides background information regarding the application of NDP items according to different countries. 6 Introduction In this Theoretical background in depth information is given regarding the application of National Annexes to EN 1995 for different countries. More specifically this concerns the following codes: Eurocode 5 Design of timber structures Part 1-1: General Common rules and rules for buildings EN :2004 Corrigendum EN :2004/AC:2006 Addendum EN :2004/A1:2008 Addendum EN :2004/A2:2014 The first chapter gives an overview of all NDP articles given in EN 1995 and specifies which of those articles are supported by SCIA Engineer. The subsequent chapters provide details on the specific implementation of the supported articles for different countries. 2

7 National Choice in EN 1995 This chapter specifies the articles of EN 1995 in which a national choice is allowed. In addition for each article information is given if the article is supported within SCIA Engineer. 8 National Annexes This chapter provides details on the specific implementation of the supported articles for different countries. Only those items for which a country differs from the default EN are elaborated. For more information reference is made to the EN code and the respective National Annex documents. EN Austria According to Austrian National annex ÖNORM B :2015 When choosing the Austrian ÖNORM-EN NA method the crack factor for shear is determined according to the method given in the National Annex: This method gives the following kcr values based on the type of timber: Solid timber: kcr = 1,00 Glued laminated timber: kcr = 1,00 In addition a warning note is printed in case of the following: Solid timber: in case fv,k 2,3 N/mm^2 Glued laminated timber: in case fv,k 2,5 N/mm^2 Belgium According to Belgian National annex NBN EN ANB: (8) Eq.(6.55) is set by default, Eq.(6.54)can be set Cyprus No National Annex currently available, using default EN. 4

9 Czech Republic According to Czech National annex CSN EN /NA ed.a: Denmark According to Danish National annex DS/EN DK NA:2014 The Safety Factors are set as follows: Gamma M Solid timber = 1,35 x Gamma 0 x Gamma 3 Gamma M Glued laminated timber = 1,30 x Gamma 0 x Gamma 3 Gamma M Accidental combinations = 1,00 Gamma 0 = 1,00 Gamma 3 depends on the Inspection level. Inspection level = Relaxed Gamma 3 = 1,10 Inspection level = Normal (= default setting) Gamma 3 = 1,00 Inspection level = Strict Gamma 3 = 0,95 The safety factors are set as follows for Accidental combinations (psi1 or psi2) or Seismic combinations: Gamma M0= 1,0 Gamma M1 = 1,0 Gamma M2 = 1,0 When choosing the Danish DS-EN NA method the crack factor for shear is determined according to the method given in the National Annex: Solid timber: kcr = 1,00 Glued laminated timber: kcr = 1, (8) Eq.(6.55) is set by default. 5

10 Finland According to Finnish National annex SFS EN NA The Safety Factors are set as follows: Gamma M Solid timber = 1,40 Gamma M Glued laminated timber = 1,20 Gamma M Accidental combinations = 1, (8) Eq.(6.55) is set by default, Eq.(6.54)can be set 6

11 France According to French National annex NF EN /NA When choosing the French NF-EN NA method the crack factor for shear is determined according to the method given in the National Annex: This method gives the following kcr values based on the type of timber and the service class set in the Setup: a) Service Class 1 Solid timber with d > 150 mm: kcr = 0,67 For all other cases kcr = 1,00 b) Service class 2 Solid timber with d > 150 mm: kcr = 0,67 Glued laminated timber: kcr = 0,67 (It is thus assumed that the loading ratio is > 0,7) For all other cases kcr = 1,00 c) Service class 3 In all cases kcr = 0,67 Note: d is defined as the maximal dimension of the section and determined as: d = max [ (x_max x_min) ; (y_max y_min) ] With : x max Maximal horizontal fiber coordinate of the cross-section x min y max y min Minimal horizontal fiber coordinate of the cross-section Maximal vertical fiber coordinate of the cross-section Minimal vertical fiber coordinate of the cross-section 7

12 Germany According to German National annex DIN EN /NA: The Safety Factors are set as follows: Gamma M Solid timber = 1,30 Gamma M Glued laminated timber = 1,30 Gamma M Accidental combinations = 1,00 When choosing the German DIN-EN NA method the crack factor for shear is determined according to the method given in the National Annex: This method gives the following kcr values based on the type of timber: a) Vollholz aus Nadelholz Solid timber and name starting with C : kcr = 2,0 / fv,k With fv,k in N/mm^2 b) Vollholz aus Laubholz Any other Solid timber: kcr = 0,67 c) Brettschichtholz Glued laminated timber: kcr = 2,5 / fv,k With fv,k in N/mm^2 For all cases kcr is limited to a maximal value of 1, (NCCI) In case the German National Annex is set, the following additional checks according to (NA.58) and (NA.59) are executed as NCCI: 8

13 Greece According to Greek National annex ELOT :2009 Ireland According to Irish National annex I.S. EN /NA: 2004 Italy According to Italian National annex UNI-EN :2010 The Safety Factors are set as follows: Gamma M Solid timber = 1,50 Gamma M Glued laminated timber = 1,45 Gamma M Accidental combinations = 1,00 9

14 Luxembourg According to Luxembourgian National annex EN :2004/AN-LU:2011 (No information is given so the default is used) Malaysia No National Annex currently available, using default EN. 10

15 Netherlands According to Dutch National annex NEN-EN C1+A1:2011/NB:2013 (Addendum A1) When choosing the Dutch NEN-EN NA method the crack factor for shear is determined according to the method given in the National Annex: This method gives the following kcr values based on the type of cross-section: a) For I- and T-sections kcr depends on the ratio of the web width bweb to the flange width bflange as shown on the following picture: The supported timber sections with corresponding dimensions are given in the following table: Cross-section bweb = tha bflange = Bb Dimension bweb = tha bflange = max(bb ; Bc) bweb = tha bflange = tha + 2 *Bb In addition also geometric shape types I ng, I gh and T g are supported. 11

16 b) For hollow sections kcr depends on the ratio of the web width bweb to the flange width bflange as shown on the following picture: The supported timber sections with corresponding dimensions are given in the following table: Cross-section Dimension bweb = 2 * Bb bflange = Ba bweb = 2 * Ba bflange = Bb + 2 * Ba bweb = 3 * Ba bflange = 2 * Bb + 3 * Ba In addition also geometric shape types O and O asymmetric are supported. c) For any other section kcr = 1,00 12

17 Norway According to Norwegian National annex NS-EN :2004/NA:2010+A1:2013 The Safety Factors are set as follows: Gamma M Solid timber = 1,25 Gamma M Glued laminated timber = 1,15 Gamma M Accidental combinations = 1,00 When choosing the Norwegian NS-EN NA method the crack factor for shear is determined according to the method given in the National Annex: This method gives the following kcr values based on the type of timber: Solid timber: kcr = 0,67 Glued laminated timber: kcr = 0,80, Eq.(6.55)can be set Poland According to Polish National annex PN-EN :2010 Romania According to Romanian National annex SR EN :2004/NB:2008 Singapore No National Annex currently available, using default EN. 13
