2 Turbidity sensor for water and waste water application Turbidity measurement is widely used in drinking water and wastewater applications. Therefore the turbidity measurement will be used for filter monitoring and quality control of water in waste water plants. The turbidity sensor OPTISENS TUR 2000 from KROHNE has a standardized robust design for open channel measurement and a long lifespan. Therefore the sensor is especially designed for small and medium-sized wastewater treatment plants. The integrated spray cleaning system minimizes the need for manual cleaning, which means longer intervals between maintenance and calibration. 4 2. Electrical Connections Safety instructions DANGER! All work done on the electrical connections may only be carrier out with the power disconnected. Take note of the voltage data on the nameplate! DANGER! Observe the national regulations for electrical installations! WARNING! Observe without fail the local occupational health and safety regulations. Any work done on the electrical components of the measuring device may only be carried out by properly trained specialists. INFORMATION! Look at the device nameplate to ensure that the device is delivered according to your order. Check for the correct supply voltage printed on the nameplate. 5 INFORMATION! For OPTISENS TUR 2000 there is only the single channel version is available and the interface "Pos.A" is populated. INFORMATION! Connecting the sensor cable to the MAC 100 signal converter Thread the sensor cable through the cable gland (1). To connect the cable to the signal converter, press down the wire (7) on the corresponding terminal. 6 3. Power supply Open the cover of the electrical terminal compartment by pressing down and pulling forwards at the same time. 1. Figure 1: Power supply connection (1) VAC (-15%/+10%), 8 VA (3) 24 VAC/DC (AC: -15%/+10%; DC: -25%/+30%) Close the cover after the power has been connected. 24 VAC/DC (tolerance range: AC: -15% / +10%; DC: -25% / +30%) AC: Note the power supply voltage and frequency (50 60 Hz) on the nameplate. DC: When connecting to functional extra-low voltages, provide a facility for protective separation (PELV) (acc. To VDE 0100 / VDE 0106 and IEC 364 / IEC 536 or relevant national regulations). INFORMATION 12 V is not included in the tolerance range.

7 4. Calibration INFORMATION! The calibration of OPTISENS TUR 2000 is a 2-point calibration. The calibration of the zero standard value (zero point) takes place in distilled water. Please consider that the given value of the zero standard should not deviate more than ±0.400 NTU from the measured value. The calibration of the sensitivity takes place in a media with defined turbidity value. As an alternative also formazine can be used. The deviation should not be more than ±30 % of the measuring range. 1. Calibration of the zero standard value Press > for 2,5 sec., then release the button. You are now on the main menu level. You are on the main menu level. In the upper line on the right side of the display "A" appears, beneath the main menu quick setup is highlighted. 8 The message zero point calibration successful is highlighted if the calibration was successful. In this case press and proceed with the calibration of the sensitivity standard value. The message zero point calibration unsuccessful is highlighted if the calibration has failed. Press and answer the question to repeat the calibration with yes or no. Press or and confirm with. 2. Calibration of the sensitivity standard value If the zero standard value calibration was successful press to start the calibration of the sensitivity. On the display the actual turbidity value is highlighted. Wait till the value is stable and then press to start the calibration. Press or to set the sensitivity standard value in NTU. Press to confirm the entered value. The menu start calib. is highlighted. Press to Start the calibration for the sensitivity standard value. The message calibration sensitivity standard value successful is highlighted, if the calibration was successful. In this case press several times to leave the calibration menu. The message calibration sensitivity standard value unsuccessful is highlighted if hte calibration has failed. Press and answer the question to repeat the calibration with yes or no. Press or and confirm with.
