Summary The third Interregional Workshop within CROME-LIFE+ project took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia on November 25 th The workshop was connected with closed internal meeting on November 24 th 2016 for project partners only. Both events were organized at the Department of Environmental Sciences, Jožef Stefan Institute, location Reaktorski Center Podgorica. CROME_LIFE interregional workshop in Ljubljana on November 25 th 2016 was attended by 35 participants including stakeholders, scientists and students. Representatives of Ministry of Health, National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ), National laboratory for Health, Environment and Food (NLZOH) and University Medical Centre Ljubljana were present. From CROME-LIFE project group at the workshop was attended by D Sarigiannis, S. Karakitsios (AUTH), G. Calamandrei, A. Alimonti, A. Pino and B. Bocca (ISS), J. Grimalt (CSIC), M. Horvat, D. Mazej, J. Snoj Tratnik and I. Falnoga (JSI). Project coordinator first introduced the CROME project with an overview of environmental problem tackled, main objectives, methodologies applied, expected result. Then representatives of countries presented the results of national case studies and the CROME common study. AUTH participated with the following presentation: The CROME approach to estimation of cancer risk due to biomass burning in Greece (D. Sarigiannis, AUTH, Greece). ISS presented The Northern Adriatic Cohort II in the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region: Prenatal and Childhood Exposure to Metals and Neuropsychological Maturation at 7 Years (G. Calamandrei, ISS, Italy) and Arsenic species identified in a children cohort within the CROME project (B. Bocca, ISS, Italy). CSIS work was presented by J. Grimalt who gave two presentations 1) Routes of incorporation of metals and organohalogen pollutants into humans and 2) Field campaigns for the study of the impact of chemical pollutants into humans in response to stakeholder requests after examination of CROME results (both J. Grimalt, CSIS,. Spain). JSI team gave presentations entitled 1) Low level mercury exposure, neurodevelopment and genetic polymorphisms in birth cohort from Slovenia and Croatia (J. Snoj Tratnik, JSI, Slovenia) and 2) The results from the first Slovenian human biomonitoring survey: linking internal exposure to potentially toxic elements with environmental data (D. Mazej, JSI, Slovenia). Results of two already completed projects from environmental health area were also presented to Slovenian expert community within the workshop: 1) Persistent organic pollutants in human milk and blood of Slovenian population - Results of the national HBM programme (B.Križanec, NLZOH, Slovenia) and 2) Environmental exposure associated with outdoor and indoor air quality - insights from the CITI-SENSE project (D. Kocman, JSI, Slovenia). 4
