1 POND RENOVATION SRM University BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION The Campus is divided by a water body namely Potheri Tangal (Chitteri) for an extent of hectares. The tank ceases to be an irrigation source and is maintained as a storage water body. The Collector of Kancheepuram District has permitted the Management to carry out the renovation of this tank. The tank has been deepened, strengthened and renovated for walk ways, garden and lawns around the tank. The rejuvenation has helped in ncreasing the capacity of the tank and the additional storage has helped in raising the water tables of the surrounding wells in the campus. POND RENOVATION

8 SRM EARTH DAY SRM University Our Earth is the only planet in the Universe where life is possible till date. It is very necessary to maintain the natural assets of the earth in order to continue the life on the earth. In the rush of the crowd, the most intelligent creature of the God called human is slowly losing its humanity and forgetting to take care of the planet that gave it life and started using its resources very ruthlessly. The 22nd of April has been marked as an Earth Day to make the human race aware about the importance of their planet. World Earth Day is celebrated every year as an annual event by the people all across the world in order to increase the awareness among people about the environment safety as well as to demonstratee the environmental protection measures. First time, the World Earth Day was celebrated in the year 1970 and then started celebrating annually on global basis by almost 192 countries.
9 SRM EARTH DAY 2015 In this 45th year of Earth Day celebration students of SRM IHM under the support of Director Principal & Vice Principal Chef Ramesh took the initiative of planting new trees inside the premises of SRM University & beautifying it. Mr. B Sridhar (Asst Revenue Manager, Radisson Blu Hotel Chennai) was invited to grace the occasion. As this year s Earth Day theme states Its our turn to lead the students wanted to raise an awareness about the importance of planting trees & the affects of deforestation on our planet. This day was created by American Senator, Gaylord Nelson, to make peoplee aware of the importance of keeping our planet healthy and clean & each one of us should take active participation in teaching people that every day of their life is Earth Day, so they should take care of Mother Nature on daily basis.
