An overview of WorldStove s five step program And some added bonuses about the LuciaStove and biochar
One or more Institutional LuciaStoves 30 smaller stoves for training Step One Market introduction and assessment Small manual pellet press for biomass testing
Step Two Creating permanent, local, self-sustaining jobs. Shop for beginning production of stoves; Material to build 500 LuciaStoves Small pellet mill ( kg/hr)
Expand LuciaStove production Either increase pellet production or purchase larger mill Step Three Scale-up (where appropriate)
Step Four Start of Measurable Offsets program Begin char collection/anaysis/quantification Begin CDM certification Difference between Zero and 2% Depth of Zero Char front minus 2% Char front Minutes elapsed Difference between Zero and 2% How WorldStove can measure offsets to three decimal points: Biochar is 80% carbon, so amount of biochar multiplied by 0.8 and then by 3.7 will determine exact amount of CO2 sequestered. WorldStove does not count theoretical wood savings for there is no way to assure that the trees saved are not being used for other things. WorldStove ALWAYS pledges 100% of the CDMs earned to the local LuciaStove hubs
Step Five Biochar application Use approved and documented char in Aforerstation/reforestation programs Soil improment programs (Super Gardens) Combating desertification
What it all boils down to? Traditional cooking methods are the cause of 1.6 million deaths per year
Added advantages of the LuciaStove and Biochar
Water Purifier Water filter made with tested biochar Water reservoir Materials needed One 1.5 liter plastic bottle Small scrap of cloth Small amount of boiled clay ph neutral biochar cloth clay Water reservoir Works the same way as a store-bought water filter Add 1 drop (0.05 ml) of bleach to 1 litre of water, shake and allow to stand for at least 30 minutes before drinking Each use of the LuciaStove will produce enough char to filter 100 liters of water.
Aerobic, Odor-Free Separating, Composting Toilette Items needed: Two 5 Gallon buckets, Three kg biochar Two Lids 12 cm of 1cm rubber tubing Optional Seat and/or enclosure
The Luciapq 12vDC at 5A Like a solar panel that works at night as well
Seed balls Using seed-balls, a single LuciaStove can produce sufficient biochar to permit planting plants per year helping re-forestation programs and food security
How WorldStove s Carbon Offset Program Works 100% of all offsets go directly to the individual, locally owned and operated LuciaStove StoveHubs. WorldStove acts as go between for villages and offset clients at no cost to the StoveHubs, allowing the Hubs to determine what to do with the earnings.
We Begin with Certification This sets the baseline for our offset program
For each stove hub we establish WorldStove Hubs are entitled to: Stove subsidies which come from individual offset sales and in turn allows stove hubs to have a greater profit margin on initial sales. Income from corporate offsets a broker, auditor, program, and offset rating. For more information please visit
Each hub is subject to periodic audits afiasu Failure to document or test biochar will earn a hub a warning Two warnings suspends the certification and closes the hub burkina
For the first 1 to 3 years CDM earnings are pre-sold through our brokers. This allows LuciaStove StoveHubs to: Finance their own higher valued CDM certification Provide micro-finance programs Afford pellet mill upgrades and maintenance, assuring self-sufficiency and growth. rotor
Stove customers in rural settings along with their purchase of the stove receive free fuel for the life of the stove providing they bring all biochar produced with normal stove use to their local LuciaStove StoveHub
All this because WorldStove s primary mission is not to sell stoves but to create permanent self-sustaining jobs which lead to the elimination of wood and charcoal as fuels and increase food security through soil improvement.
Permanent self-sustaining local jobs and knowledge transfer. Workers in local StoveHubs receive sufficed training to be able to eventually open their own LuciaStove StoveHub.
