9 What we already know... FSC certification is an important tool for IFL conservation in the Brazilian Amazon. National Indicators that strengthen excellence in RIL, with reinforced technical support will be proposed and tested, referenced for the IGI s (to be approved by the Board). FSC means governance and legislation reinforcement in Brazil, in public and private areas. Forest certified areas are barriers against deforestation vectors. FSC certification assures the Legislation execution and the continuous improvement of the organizations social and environmental performance. In the Brazilian Amazon, the conservation agenda shall focus in the fight against illegality and in the implementation of protected areas. Increase the legal and certified tropical timber offer, is a brazilian forestry policy goal and can contribute with the IFL conservation agenda, having as a parameter the FSC forest certification. 8
