Center for renewable energy sources and saving -CRES Introduction Energy efficiency in the building sector is a key element to achieve the energy goals set by the European Union (20% by 2020 and 27% by 2030 Energy efficiency initiatives are supported by all EU member states and guided through building energy studies and recommendations from Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs). Various actions are taken in order to stimulate uptake and investment in the energy retrofitting of buildings. Such actions are the launch of a web platform, a HUB, to promote energy renovation techniques and the development of an energy check tool to support inexperienced homeowners/ tenants to get familiarized with energy efficient products and systems.

2 Energy Performance Certificates Energy Performance Certificates -EPCs are an important instrument that should contribute to enhance the energy performance of buildings. The main aim of the EPCs is to serve as an information databasefor building owners, occupiers and the property actors when a building or building unit is sold or rented. B Request2Actionis a European Union Intelligent Energy programme funded project, which focuses on how information EPCs, among other data, can be used to promote home energy efficiency, and finally, achieve energy savings. 3 Energy Performance Certificates [Source: BPIE] [source: ΑΕΑ] Retrofit Action HUB in Greece Objectives of the HUB serve as a market place to connect demand and supply sideactors, providing a meeting place and information resource for building owners to engage with trades people and providers of finance for retrofit be conceived as knowledge platforms for key actors such as trades federations, financiers and policy makers monitor platform for refurbishment activities

4 HUB s key actors For trades people/supply chain: A database with companies providing energy efficient materials and systems is offered in the HUB platform, with the participation of Greek associations. This list is continuously updated and enriched. Also, trades people provide technical advice on adequate installation techniques. For home owners: A user friendly Home Energy Check tool allowing the dynamic modelling for the potential energy saving improvements is presented and also integrated into the HUB. Home owners have the opportunity to learn the energy consumption of their houses, as well as to find different ways to save energy for their home. Moreover, the Hub platform presents useful guidelines and tips for homeowners, in order to promote the EPCs recommendations. Various types of retrofit actions can be followed in order to achieve energy conservation in buildings. The energy retrofit actions presented aim to familiarize the user with the various available energy retrofit options and highlight the implementation of EPCs recommendations and energy savings achieved. The current actions can be served as horizontal policy measurein order to promoteepcs recommendations, and contributeto reach the ambitious European energy efficiency goals.
