Maari Field Location & Ownership The Maari & Manaia Fields are located in Mining Permit PMP38160 in the offshore Taranaki Basin, New Zealand, approximately 35km south of the giant Maui gas field and 70km south-west of Cape Egmont. The Mining Permit is operated by OMV New Zealand on behalf of the Maari Joint Venture consisting of: OMV New Zealand Limited: 69% Todd Maari Limited: 16% Horizon Oil International Limited: 10% Cue Taranaki Pty Ltd 5% Slide 2 OMV New Zealand Ltd, The Maari Growth Projects Carey Mills, 31 March 2015
Current JV formed Exploration & Development History Oil accumulations at Manaia and Maari were first identified in 1970 and 1983 respectively. The combination of location, prevailing oil price, resource size and the physical oil properties deemed development uneconomic. The current JV was formed in 2002 and took final investment decision on the Maari Development in 2005 Phase 1 development drilling commenced in December 2008 and continued through to November 2009 with first oil in February Maari has produced over 25 million barrels of oil Maari Growth drilling project commenced in April 2014 Slide 3 OMV New Zealand Ltd, The Maari Growth Projects Carey Mills, 31 March 2015
Producing Reservoirs Maari produces oil from four separate reservoir sequences: Maari M2A Sandstone One horizontal producer with 1.2km of horizontal section Maari Moki Sandstone Five horizontal producer wells with a total of ~11km of horizontal section (drilling of a sixth producer well is currently ongoing). One horizontal water injector (additional horizontal producer / injector to be drilled) Maari Mangahewa Formation One horizontal oil producer Manaia Mangahewa Formation One ERD horizontal oil producer with 1.5km of horizontal section Slide 4 OMV New Zealand Ltd, The Maari Growth Projects Carey Mills, 31 March 2015
Installed Facilities The installed Maari facilities consist of a Well Head Platform & FPSO linked by subsea umbilicals & flow lines. Maari WHP Shuttle tanker FPSO Raroa 12 conductor slots Three phase flow is sent to FPSO by two 10 flow lines Maari WHP Tiri Tiri Moana FPSO Capacity 50k bbls/day production 40k bbls/day injection 10 MW generation Slide 5 OMV New Zealand Ltd, The Maari Growth Projects Carey Mills, 31 March 2015
What Are The Opportunities Appraisal & exploration of nearby potential accumulations (Manaia & Whio) Development of new resources (Maari structure Mangahewa Fm) Infill development of existing resources (Maari Moki Sandstone) Establishment of flank water injection to drive an increase in ultimate reserves Ultimate objectives to Increase ultimate reserves of Maari Increase production rate Decrease per barrel OPEX Give subsurface foundation to extend the productive life of Maari To take full advantage of these opportunities, facilities work was essential to ensure reliable performance beyond the scheduled end of field life of Slide 10 OMV New Zealand Ltd, The Maari Growth Projects Carey Mills, 31 March 2015
The Wider Maari Growth Project including Exploration & Appraisal Near Field Exploration & Appraisal Activities. Acquisition of new 3D seismic dataset and subsequent multi azimuth / high resolution processing Drilling of Manaia-2 appraisal well (KT IV) Drilling of Whio-1 exploration well (KT IV) Development Activities Removal of work-over unit from well head platform New free fall lifeboat Mooring repair / replacement FPSO Swivel replacement FPSO refurbishment Brown field facilities changes to accommodate new wells Drilling of two horizontal oil producers in the Moki Sandstone Drilling of one injector / producer in the Moki Sandstone Drilling of one horizontal oil producer in the Mangahewa Formation Conversion of a watered out producer to a water injector. Slide 6 OMV New Zealand Ltd, The Maari Growth Projects Carey Mills, 31 March 2015
Maari Growth - Schedule Identification of subsurface opportunities & scoping of project elements commenced in Project characterised by simultaneous operations including: On-going production Dual offshore drilling campaigns with KTIV & E107 FPSO off location for repairs & maintenance WHP modifications to accommodate new production Logistics Multiple critical paths & demands on supply vessels Contingencies to cover changes to base line plan Location provided challenges All materials & equipment got to the field by work boat. 15 Near Field Exploration & Appraisal KanTan IV Programme Slide 14 OMV New Zealand Ltd, The Maari Growth Projects Carey Mills, 31 March 2015
KanTan IV Drilling Drilled Manaia-2 Appraisal & Whio-1 exploration wells. Results important to shape the future look of the the Maari development. Whio-1 Potential for new satellite platform? Failed to establish a commercial hydrocarbon accumulation. Manaia-2 Appraised the Manaia structure in a near crestal location Evaluated Moki Sandstone, Mangahewa Fm & Farewell Fm reservoirs Mobilised from Singapore and de-mobilised to China 21 companies and ~280 people directly involved 177,000 man hours, 2 LTI s (1 non work related) Slide 15 OMV New Zealand Ltd, The Maari Growth Projects Carey Mills, 31 March 2015
Appraisal & Exploration Drilling Manaia-2 Manaia-2 Appraisal Well Manaia-2 Established a potentially economic oil accumulation in the Moki Sandstone. Confirmed the OWC depth in the Mangahewa Formation and provided additional information on pressure depletion in the Mangahewa Fm as a result of MN-1 production. Future work on Manaia Accumulation Opportunity framework workshop about to be held Development scoping Toll Gate scheduled for later this year Slide 16 OMV New Zealand Ltd, The Maari Growth Projects Carey Mills, 31 March 2015
