1 Short Presentation of CERTH/ISFTA Introduction The Institute for Solid Fuels Technology and Applications / Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH/ISFTA) is the main Greek organization for the promotion of research and technological development in the field of improved and integrated exploitation of solid fuels and their by-products, emphasizing in clean energy production. ISFTA s main objective is the optimisation of Greek lignite utilisation in power production, as well as the integrated exploration of solid fuels and their by-products.

3 Modern Building Facilities (2/2) The studies for the expansion of the building (2 nd Stage) were 2 nd Stage updated in 2010 (to be finalized by GSRT) Institute s branches are in operation in Athens and Thessaloniki In 2010 Athens branch that operates in ARKAT Building was expanded (total area of 135 m 2 )

15 Results (1/2) Assignment of research projects with raised budget comparing to the past (funded by EU and national funds) Successful cooperation with PPC (increase of joint research projects, conduction of chemical analyses in PPC) as well as with private investors (ΤΙΤΑΝ, Helector) Infrastructure development in Ptolemais area and active contribution of ISFTA in regional development projects
