3 WHY BIOMASS? Biomass Explained Biomass Boilers are environmentally friendly hea ng solu ons designed to replace your exis ng inefficient hea ng method. They burn wood pellets made from materials sourced in sustainable forests, typically in the UK. The fuel that these pellets provide burns both cleanly and easily and gives a strong, consistent heat. Biomass Boilers operate automa cally, regula ng the amount of fuel being used so it matches the heat demand of your home. Pellets are pped into the Boilers hopper by the homeowner as and when the Boiler requires. Wood pellets are typically sold in batches of 10KG bags to ensure they are conveniently sized to p into the hopper. Installation Installing a Biomass boiler is quite a simple process, typically they are plumbed directly into the exis ng central hea ng system. Goldfield s Boilers are external to ensure minimum disrup on to your home during installa on and to ensure maintaining the system is as simple as possible. Would I benefit from a Biomass Boiler? Customers who use Oil, LPG or Electricity (or a mixture of any of the three) as the primary method to heat their home can poten ally enjoy the largest energy savings from the installa on of a Biomass Boiler. Wood Pellet pricing has been historically stable and not subject to price changes like fossil fuels. Homes that are currently connected to the Gas grid will typically not see reduced fuel bills from the installa on of a Biomass Boiler.

6 HOW WE DO IT We use Government backed subsidies to pay for the cost of your Biomass Boiler The Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive Boiler Share uses the recently launched Domes c Renewable Heat Incen ve to cover the cost of installing Biomass Boilers in domes c proper es. This government backed subsidy was created to encourage homeowners to switch to Biomass as a new and renewable hea ng source. The scheme pays eligible applicants on a quarterly basis over a 7 year period. Goldfield Partners use these payments to install Biomass boilers on domes c homes at no cost to the homeowner. Why we re different At Goldfield Partners we design all of our products to be fair. We believe in providing renewable solu ons at no cost to households across the country whilst also allowing our customers to take advantage of the same Government backed schemes that we do. Boiler Share is structured to allow homeowners to share the drhi (Domes c Renewable Heat Incen ve) payments with Goldfield. Homeowners can contribute anything up to 50% of the Boiler cost with the subsequent drhi payments split accordingly. Irrespec ve of how much you decide to contribute, Goldfield will s ll provide you with maintenance and annual servicing for 7 YEARS. Goldfield take a small Asset Management fee (0.5% of Boiler cost per quarter) and the MSI (Maintenance, Security and Insurance) fund is retained to cover servicing and repair costs. Below you can find two examples, one with a 1% customer contribu on and the other with a 50% customer contribu on. 7 WHO HANDLES THE MONEY? Boiler Share is designed to be completely safe and fair to both the customer and Goldfield Partners. In the interest of transparency we have opted to use a third party FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) regulated Custodian service called Street UK to handle all Domes c Renewable Heat Incen ve payments. The payments go directly to the Custodian Account who then divide the money between you the customer and Goldfield Partners as per the Boiler Share Agreement that you previously agreed too. 10% of the OFGEM payment is sent to your specific installer (minus a small amount to cover our insurance responsibili es) every quarter to cover all maintenance and servicing needs for the whole 7 year period. Who are Street UK? Street UK launched in September 2000 and made its first loan in April Their mission is to support financially excluded individuals with a range of high quality tailored financial services. Their objec ve is to offer a secure pathway out of debt, and to do it on a sustainable basis. Street UK s Administration Package By 2003 Street UK had developed a comprehensive back office service for third and public sector lenders, known as StreetServe. This service provides so ware to organisa ons similar to Street UK to facilitate a loan administra on and systems support package. They now provide this service to 25 similar organisa ons across the UK. Importantly for Goldfield Partners, Street UK has begun to provide these facili es to private sector clients, including prominent names in the crowdfunding sector. Why have Goldfield Partners chose Street UK? Street UK are vastly experienced in the industry and will send over OFGEM payments within 5 working days of payment from OFGEM to you and Goldfield Partners. Its parent business Street UK Founda on is a registered charity with Street UK opera ng as one of its trading arms. Any surpluses generated by the trading arms are covenanted back into the Founda on. 8 The Boiler Share Agreement The Boiler Share Agreement outlines our responsibilities to you and presents all of the legal information you need to know about Boiler Share. The Agreement forms a contract between you and Goldfield and guarantees that we will take care of all maintenance and servicing responsibilities for 7 years. It also ensures that the custodian knows which bank account to send your allocation of the Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive payments to. The Boiler Share Agreement is compiled and sent to you by recorded post as soon as you make your Boiler contribution.

Our Boilers take up a small footprint and are durable, safe and completely weather protected against all condi ons. The Boiler is usually plumbed directly into elements of your exis ng hea ng system to reduce installa on me and, again, minimise disrup on. A provision is always made to guarantee instant heat and hot water to make sure you have warmth when you need it. The installa on is typically completed within a couple of days!

Pellets are designed to be extremely dense and are produced with a low moisture content that allows them to be fed into Biomass Boilers with a high level of calibra on. This permits the Boiler to generate the right amount of heat that a home needs at all mes. High density also allows for the compact storage of the pellets and aids in their transporta on around the country. Putting the Pellets in the Boiler Goldfield s Boiler Share Boilers all require manual feeding of the Wood pellets into the Boiler when they are needed. This is an easy process where the user simply ps bags of Pellets into the Hopper of the Boiler. Our Boilers are typically top loading, ensuring easy access when Pellets are needed. Pellets are generally provided in batches of 10KG bags to ensure easy storage and refuelling of the Boiler. There are three levels of European accredita on, Goldfield s Boilers require the highest standard, EN Plus A1 in order to func on correctly. 14 What does Better Than Free mean? The Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive scheme that is utilised to pay for your Boiler require that the homeowner makes a financial contribution. We decided that 1% would be sufficient under our Boiler Share scheme but also undertook to provide your first batch of pellets entirely free of charge. How do Goldfield Partners pay for the Boilers? We utilise the Government s Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive which pays a fixed sum for every kwh of renewable energy generated using eligible Biomass Boilers. Goldfield use these payments to fund the cost of installing domestic Biomass Boilers. So, what is a Biomass Boiler? Biomass Boilers replace an existing Gas or Oil Boiler. Our Boiler Share installations include provisions for instant heat and hot water much like you would find with a Gas combi-boiler. They burn high quality Wood Pellets and can save you huge amounts on your Energy bills whilst also benefiting the environment. Where is the Boiler installed? Each Goldfield installation is tailored specifically to the individual property. The Boiler is typically located externally (outside of the property) as this is a simpler installation, causes less disruption to your property and is easier to maintain. Who maintains the Boiler? Under Goldfield s Boiler Share scheme we handle ALL maintenance and annual servicing for 7 years. What happens after 7 years? Goldfield s interest in your Boiler ends. The Boiler will become entirely your property for a small nominal fee. Maintenance and annual servicing will then become your responsibility. 15 How long does installation take? Each installation is different but we always endeavour to complete installations quickly, whilst also delivering a first rate service. Typical installations are complete within 2 days but more complex installs may take an extra day. Which Pellets should I use? The European Pellet standard of EN PLUS A1 pellets must be used in your Boiler to adhere to Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive rules and to guarantee great performance from your Boiler. How often will I need to refill? This depends on the size of Boiler needed to heat your home. For a typical well insulated three bedroom semi-detached home you could expect one bag (15KG) of pellets to last around three days in the winter months. Is my Boiler contribution protected? Of course. If you make your contribution and then decide not to proceed with your installation before signing the Boiler Share Agreement we will refund you in full within 14 days. Why use a custodian account? Our Custodian, Street UK is FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) regulated and completely separate from Goldfield Partners. We believe using them guarantees transparency for you, the homeowner and also ensures that the Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive payments are divided quickly and correctly. Payments typically arrive in the respective bank accounts within 5 days. For more information on our custodian please see page 8. What if I sell my house? If you decide to sell your property during the 7 year Boiler Share Agreement you are simply required to purchase Goldfield s interest in your Boiler. This can be done as part of the sale of your property to the buyer. The cost to purchase Goldfield s interest is specific to your Boiler and can be found in your Boiler Share Agreement.
