2 Dear Business Partners, on the following pages we would like to present some basic information about our complex membrane program, which we market under the RALEX brand name. The history of our company dates back to 1975, when Central Laboratories were established within the framework of the Czechoslovak uranium industry in order to provide service and research activities to all environmental protection units and in the development of technologies for the complex processing of uranium ores in the Czech Republic. Company MEGA a.s., established in 1992, based on its own research results and experience, began to commercially supply technological assemblies and services to meet the demands and requirements of customers in the area of environmental protection, focusing primarily on membrane technologies. Environmental protection is a fundamental worldwide priority. The effective use of water resources for the needs of households and industry is probably the area of greatest importance from the range of environmental challenges facing us. Neither life nor industrial production is possible without access to quality water. Due to the worsening quality of water sources, water is becoming a fundamental strategic resource and technologies for the preparation of quality water are gaining ever-increasing importance and membrane separation processes have an indispensable role in this field. This group of processes is quite large and apart from water management they are applied in practically all areas of industry. For humanity their most important application is in the purification and desalination of water and in food processing for the production of milk and whey. MEGA a.s. is focused primarily on electro-membrane processes (electrodialysis, electrophoresis, electrodeionization and membrane electrolysis). The cornerstone of development in

3 this field is the proprietary patented production of various types of heterogeneous ion-exchange membranes for various applications. Quality and complex solutions in the area of water and solution treatment are not always possible by the application of solely electromembrane processes, but sometimes there is a need to combine them with pressure membrane processes (reverse osmosis, ultra-filtration, micro-filtration, and others), which we also have in our product portfolio. Our offering and delivery of hybrid membrane technologies fully reflects our long-term strategy, which is to be the leading company in the area of electromembrane and integrated systems and to offer our customers environmentally friendly solutions. All products and technologies supplied by our company are the result of our own research and development work. For this reason, research, development and innovation are given a very high importance in our company and at least 10% of our turnover is invested into these activities every year. Some types of RALEX membranes are supplied with hygiene certification, which confirm their applicability for food processing and pharmaceutical industry applications. RALEX membranes are heterogeneous ion-exchange membranes produced by our company under our own patent based on our know-how gained since The heterogeneous membrane is a highly filled polymer composite composed of very finely ground polymer particles with ion-exchange function groups, anchored in an inert polymer matrix and a reinforcement textile, which improves the mechanical properties of the membrane. Due to the wide range of applications MEGA produces RALEX membranes in rolls, tubes or to the exact requirements of the customer. RALEX membranes are characterised by excellent mechanical and electrochemical properties, namely by: low electrical resistance high permselectivity higher thermal resistance high resistance against a range of aggressive chemicals and industrial membrane poisons chemical stability over a wide ph range long lifetime (depending on application up to 10 years) It is put into an operational state by swelling in water and there is no problem with repeated drying out and swelling of the membrane. Our company has developed a unique electrodialysis device that can achieve high demineralisation of up to 90%. We understand that to achieve long-term success in the international market it is necessary to constantly innovate the product offering and to discover new and original solutions. Our research and development activities are focused namely on the research and implementation of new materials, the development of new laboratory methods, the innovation of the current or the development of new technologies and products.
