RUSAL, THE LARGEST PRODUCER OF ALUMINIUM CRAFTED BY HYDROPOWER THE BENEFITS OF USING RUSAL ALUMINIUM FOR CONSTRUCTION 31 BREEAM CREDITS can be earned with (22% of total BREEAM credits), of which 9 are directly attributed to RUSAL DGNB CREDITS LEED V4 CREDITS can be earned with (22% of total DGNB credits), of which 25 are directly attributed to RUSAL can be earned with (35% of total LEED v4 credits), of which 9 are directly attributed to RUSAL Fast facts RUSAL is a leading international producer specializing in: RUSAL in a nutshell: 4 MILLION Tonnes a year production capacity To meet the expected increase in demand over the next 100 years, RUSAL has secured access to: PRIMARY ALUMINIUM FOIL 61,000 Employees around the world 19 Countries across 5 continents ALUMINIUM ALLOYS ALUMINA SIBERIA Home to most of its smelters BAUXITE MINES IN JAMAICA, GUYANA, REPUBLIC OF GUINEA AND RUSSIA. #2 METAL Aluminium is the 2 nd most widely used construction metal after steel 95% RECYCLABILITY Aluminium used in buildings can be recycled indefinitely after use phase 4X LESS CO 2 WITH HYDROPOWER For one tonne of produced with hydropower vs. gas or coal energy sources* *Based on typical Scope 1&2 smelter emissions Producing requires large amounts of energy; therefore, the carbon footprint of primary depends heavily on the energy sources used to produce it. OVER 90% OF RUSAL S ALUMINIUM IS PRODUCED WITH ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY HYDROPOWER, MAKING RUSAL THE BIGGEST PRODUCER OF LOW-CARBON ALUMINIUM. DURABLE OXIDE With a layer of up to 0.025mm, the oxide is both durable and corrosion resistant >100 YEARS DURABILITY Aluminium has been used in the building industry for over a century 95% SUNLIGHT REFLECTED Roofs made or coated with absorb less heat, which decreases cooling demand and increases energy efficiency 4 5

BUILDING PROJECTS USING LOW CO 2 ALUMINIUM FROM RUSAL CAN EASILY EARN MORE CERTIFICATION POINTS ALUMINIUM: THE BUILDING MATERIAL OF CHOICE Low-carbon RUSAL offers a range of clear environmental benefits for building projects. Specifically, using this type of enables builders to earn more points towards LEED, BREEAM and DGNB building certifications. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT during Construction / End-of-Life SUBSTITUTED HEATING ENERGY during Use Phase ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFIT over full life cycle ACCORDING TO A LIFE- CYCLE ASSESSMENT, ALUMINIUM HAS A SIMILAR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT AS OTHER MATERIALS; HOWEVER, IT HAS CLEAR BENEFITS INCLUDING: AN ABUNDANT RESOURCE HIGHLY DURABLE LOW MAINTENANCE INFINITELY RECYCLABLE LOWER TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP wood frame wood frame PVC frame Unit : eco-indicator points (aggregated environmental indicators) = = = WINDOW FRAMES WITH ALUMINIUM OFFER THE MOST ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS The table above shows the environmental impact of window glass use over 30 years. During extracting raw materials and construction, the impact of window frames is similar for different materials. However, the substituted heating energy during the use phase makes a big difference to the overall results i.e. the overall environmental benefit over the full life cycle. Aluminium gives window frames a better strengthto-weight ratio, which facilitates usage of larger glass panels leading to more significant environmental benefits during the use phase, particularly as heating energy can be substituted by solar heating from glass panels. In this example, all window frames have the same outside dimensions. However, due to the higher strength-to-weight ratio of, the wood frame can be thinner allowing for a larger window glass area. This is the main reason why the wood frame has higher environmental benefits compared to wood or PVC frames. 5 ENHANCING BUILDINGS FOR OVER 100 YEARS Aluminium was first used in buildings in the early 20th century when it was still expensive and hard to obtain. Initially reserved for decorative detailing and art deco structures, its use was gradually extended until became the second most widely used construction metal. Fast fact: ALUMINIUM IS THE 2ND MOST WIDELY USED CONSTRUCTION METAL AFTER STEEL ALUMINIUM ORIGINS: A LASTING LEGACY The statue of Eros in London s Piccadilly Circus is a beautiful example of art deco design. Built in 1893, it has only ever been cleaned once with soap and water after the Second World War - and, surprisingly, no traces of corrosion were found. ALUMINIUM BREAKTHROUGH: THE SKY IS THE LIMIT The specular rise of as a construction material is embodied by the Empire State Building ( ). The tower structure and spire are partly built from, as are the entrances, elevator doors, ornamental trim and more than 6,000 window spandrels. ALUMINIUM TODAY: #2 CONSTRUCTION METAL Today, is used in all kinds of buildings from commercial premises to domestic constructions. The facade of the Burj Khalifa, the highest building in the world, is made from and only weighs the equivalent of five Airbus A380s (approximately 1375 tonnes). 8 9

ALUMINIUM: MORE APPLICATIONS, MORE GREEN BENEFITS Aluminium is recognized as one of the most sustainable construction materials. Highly versatile, is simultaneously lightweight, strong, rigid and easy to manufacture. Combined with its endless design potential, this makes an ideal material for architectural products. OPTIMUM WEIGHT/ STRENGTH RATIO INFINITE RECYCLABILITY BETTER DESIGN CORROSION RESISTANCE AND DURABILITY Aluminium is light and strong with an excellent weight-strength ratio: 1/3 density of steel, while some alloys are almost as strong. Optimizie costs: smaller quantities of e.g. for roofs, halls and auditoriums lead to lower costs Maximize sunlight: weight of large, heavy glass panels supported by window frames allow more sunlight into buildings Use less energy: reduced weight especially for moving parts such as sewage plants and moving bridges lead to less energy used BETTER ENERGY & THERMAL EFFICIENCY Aluminium is a thermal and electric conductor. This makes it an excellent material for heat exchangers and a cost-effective choice for low voltage distribution cables. Optimize energy usage: heat exchangers in thermal heat collectors and ventilation systems reduce energy usage 95% of the in buildings is recycled after the use phase. It can be recycled almost infinitely with low energy expenditure versus primary production (around 5%). Source: Aluminium Stewardship Initiative Contribute to the circular economy: can be used and repeatedly recycled into new products without any change to its inherent properties. Therefore and its multiple service lives contribute to a ciruclar economy. Wall panels Curtain walls Window frames Aluminium is easy to shape through extrusion, meaning it can be integrated into numerous functions in prefabricated parts and profiles to facilitate the construction process. Be more energy efficient: coated roofs reflect 95% of sunlight, thereby absorbing less heat, which decreases cooling demand and increases energy efficiency Solar Panels Exhaust stacks Aluminium builds a protective layer of oxide when exposed to air, making it more resistant to environmental influences such as humidity. Through anodization, this natural oxide layer can be increased from mm to mm for enhanced durability. Benefit from longer lifespan: especially for exposed outdoor structures e.g. bridges and offshore complexes Lower maintenance costs: on buildings requiring more complicated maintenance like skyscrapers Boost commitment to solar power: through low weight, durable photovoltaic systems Roofs Gutters & downspouts Fences or bike rails Lighting fixtures Entrance doors Shading devices Shutters Electrical cables 10 11

HYDROPOWER MAKES THE DIFFERENCE Fast fact USING HYDROPOWER TYPICALLY GENERATES 50 TIMES LESS CO 2 PER KWH THAN COAL-BASED ELECTRICITY BUILDINGS USING RUSAL ALUMINIUM BENEFIT FROM ITS LOW ENVIRONMENTAL FOOTPRINT HYDROPOWER GAS COAL Unit: g CO 2 / kwh Source: Ecoinvent 3.0 database Vast amounts of electricity are required to produce. Ideally located close to hydropower plants in Siberia, RUSAL s core smelting operations get more than 90% of their electricity from water. Using renewable and environmentally friendly hydro-generated electricity is an essential part of RUSAL s commitment to achieving the best CO 2 footprint in the industry

Uncertainty is related to the share of pre-bake and Soderberg technology and related electricity use

LOW CO 2 ALUMINIUM CAN BOOST GREEN BUILDING CREDENTIALS The most widely applied green building standards, LEED v4, BREEAM and DGNB, reward the use of through credits that contribute directly to building certification. Remember! ONLY BUILDING PROJECTS CAN BE LEED-, BREEAM- AND DGNB- CERTIFIED, NOT INDIVIDUAL PRODUCTS OR RAW MATERIALS LEED V4 The U.S. Green Building Council s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is one of the most widely used green building certification programs in the U.S. and abroad. LEED CAN BE APPLIED TO BUILDING PROJECTS IN ANY LOCATION AND OF ANY AGE. The point system is based on systems and groups of products. Getting maximum points for each credit involves meeting the most challenging requirements, in addition to the minimum program requirements and prerequisites, in each credit category. Using can help fulfill some of the requirements needed to earn these points. Depending on the number of points earned, projects can be rated Certified, Silver, Gold or Platinum. BREEAM The UK-based Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) is the oldest building sustainability certification program in the world. BREEAM defines a specific technical standard for each scheme. Only a certain number of points are relevant to, depending on the scheme. BREEAM CAN BE APPLIED TO ANY KIND OF BUILDING PROJECT IN LOCATIONS ACROSS THE WORLD. Building projects are measured against performance benchmarks and rated as Unclassified, Pass, Good, Very good, Excellent or Outstanding. DGNB The German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) certification program is an international rating system. Building projects are evaluated on a life-cycle basis, earning points for systemic performance to determine an overall rating of Silver, Gold or Platinum. DGNB CAN BE APPLIED TO NUMEROUS TYPES OF PROJECTS IN ANY LOCATION. All schemes offer a maximum of 10 points for each criteria, but only some of these are applicable to
