9 Investment Planning Development of strategy and planning All Partner countries are keen to attract investment In most states specific institutions have been established Fund raising for number of plans and strategies under research and evaluation Project of Strategic Interest Southern Gas Corridor Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania interconnector

10 New Gas Infrastructure Projects (1) Most gas producing countries (Azerbaijan,Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) and also transit countries (Belarus, Georgia, Ukraine) are interested in building new transmission pipelines and increase gas storage to enhance security of supply The new transport infrastructure to transport SDII gas includes: The extension of South Caucasus Pipeline from Azerbaijan to Turkey through Georgia TheTrans-Anatolian Pipeline in Turkey TheTrans-Adriatic Pipeline or Nabucco-West inside the EU (decision in June 2013)

11 New Gas Infrastructure Projects (2) Armenia started implementation of the underground gas storage extension and the extension of import (from Iran) pipelines Azerbaijan currently undergoing new extraction/expansion of gas fields (Shah Deniz II) and new infrastructure for its transport is planned Belarus plans to extend the underground gas storage facilities Georgia is extending the transmission pipeline network and plans to construct underground gas storage.

12 New Gas Infrastructure Projects (3) Kazakhstan plans to reconstruct 2 existing Gas Storage Facilities and expand/ modernise existing gas pipelines Moldova plans to build a gas Interconnector with Romania, to extend the main pipeline and construct underground storage Ukraine plans to build new onshore and offshore LNG facilities

13 New Gas Infrastructure Projects (4) Tajikistan plans to construct new Transmission lines, one that will connect to Afganistan and a second Turkmenistan-Tajikistan- China Turkmenistan plans to expand gas production and export facilities Uzbekistan will develop new gas production fields and expand export capacity

14 Rehabilitation and Upgrading Projects All Partner Countries are concerned to rehabilitate and modernise their energy infrastructures Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Turkmenistan, Ukraine (GTS) and Uzbekistan are running rehabilitation programmes for their gas infrastructure Losses is still an important issue that requires a lot of improvements in Partner Countries. In central Asia ( ) an inspection of segment of 700 km of gas pipelines and one compressor station revealed a total annual loss valued at over 2.4 m. INOGATE not only helped repair most of the leaks, but also demonstrated that modern methods and technologies for gas loss reduction benefit the environment while offering a significant investment return.

15 Metering and Billing Projects All countries are taking measures to ensure accurate measurements Cross Border Trading requires accurate measurement from both sides In the distribution area some countries such as Uzbekistan are looking for replacement of the old fashion gas meters to the new electronic ones In the period with INOGATE support a major metrology centre was constructed and equipped at Boyarka, Ukraine.
