3 JOB HAZARD ANALYSIS A Job Hazard Analysis is a technique that focus on the job task as a way to identify hazard before they occur. It focus on the relationship between worker, the task, the tools and the work environment Ideally, after identify uncontrolled hazard, you will take the steps to eliminate or reduce them to an acceptable risk level

5 Aims To achieve a reduction in personnel injuries by establishing more effective work

6 What is MENTAL JHA? Risk assessment technique using mind to eliminate or reduce hazard associated with work task When to Perform MENTAL JHA? Mental JHAs are generally used for routine and simple tasks involving only one or two individuals and little equipment.

7 How to perform MENTAL JHA? Taking a moment before starting the job to consider the following factors by identify their inherent hazards, or what can go wrong with each one of them: Task Work area/environment Equipment People Controls

8 Process to perform MENTAL JHA Step No. 1 Mentally understand the job sequence that need to be accomplished Are the job description/instruction clear? Have sufficient knowledge or experience to handle the job safely? Did feel comfortable about the job? Will completion of the job lead to other hazard?

9 Identify the potential hazard Step No. 2 Did consider people who may be advertently or inadvertently at the risk from the performance of the job Does the hazard associated with the surrounding equipment or environment
