3 EnPro Learning System is powered by individuals throughout EnPro Industries. Our safety system provides resources for management commitment coupled with intensive employee safety training. Twice named America s Safest Company, EnPro Industries has developed the gamut of best practices perfectly aligned to efficiently move an organization forward on the journey to zero injuries. Team Committee-Based Safety System Participation is KEY for a strong safety culture A Structured Committee System provides: - A formal system for engagement - Shared responsibility for safety related tasks and programs - Opportunities for business leaders to lead safety proactively - Opportunities for all employees to contribute meaningfully - Accountability 3

4 Team Committee-Based Safety System Rules & Procedures Safety Activities Education & Training Inspection & Audits Fire & Emergency Launching Initiatives for Safety in Action (LISA) Housekeeping Accident Investigation Health & Environment 4

5 Team Committee-Based Safety System Authority - Teams must be given the authority to go into the workplace and initiate improvements and change (Increase safety awareness, identify and correct health and safety issues, and improve worker s job satisfaction). - Authority granted through management commitment and through steering team co-chairs, who represent the highest level of on-site management. - The purpose of this section is to describe the requirements for having a well-run and effective safety committee. Expertise - Team leads and members should solicit participation and involvement from those with knowledge or experience. 5 5

6 Team Committee-Based Safety System Accountability Safety committees must meet at least once per month, and more often if needed. A written record of the safety committee meetings must be agreed upon by the committee leaders, posted in a workplace location for workers to read, and kept on file for a minimum of (5) years. Leadership Team leads should be rotated to ensure wide spread participation and renew the energy of each team. Assignments should be 1-2 years in length. 6 6
