Other qualifications lead to certificates, diplomas and advanced diplomas. The natural conclusion for some of you will be a degree through our higher education partnerships. We run more than 100 short courses throughout the year as well, but that s another story and another booklet! 7 02-03 AGRICULTURE, ENVIRONMENT AND HORTICULTURE AGRICULTURE Certificate II in Agriculture AHC20110 This course offers the foundation building blocks to your career in agriculture and is offered in line with a traineeship through your employer. Establish the basic skills and knowledge that you will require to become a skilled tradesperson in the agricultural primary industries. Employer based. Certificate III in Agriculture AHC30110 As part of a traineeship with your employer, you learn the technical agricultural skills and knowledge you need as a skilled tradesperson in an agricultural workplace. Your studies focus on working with plants, animals, machinery and equipment, occupational health and safety (OH&S), people, administration, and business. There are many electives to choose from so you can focus on your chosen career path. Employer based. Certificate IV in Agriculture AHC40110 As part of a traineeship, you learn advanced technical agricultural skills as well as business skills and the knowledge you need to work towards a self-managed or supervisory position in an agricultural workplace. Your advanced studies focus on working with plants, animals, machinery and equipment, work health and safety, people, administration, and business. Diploma of Agriculture AHC50110 This qualification is suitable for students with prior learning and experience in the agricultural sector. It can be attained through fast-track learning for students with in-depth experience, or it can be used to further your career in the primary industry sector, potentially at management level in a variety of settings, including a farming operation, or in agribusiness. Certificate IV in Agribusiness AHC41010 Develop your skills and knowledge to get that leg-up into a supervisory role in an ever-expanding sector! If you have a sound business mind and have practical agricultural skills and experience at a Certificate III level, you could use this qualification to develop a career in the primary industry sector as a manager of a farming operation or agribusiness administrator. This course focuses on the business, management, and administrative aspects of agriculture. This qualification is offered through online education. Diploma of Agribusiness Management AHC51410 This course provides you with an opportunity to develop a career in the primary industry sector as a manager/owner-operator of a farming operation (for example a commodity trading or agricultural advisory business). If you have acquired years of experience in the agricultural industry sector, but have no formal qualifications, you can have these skills recognised and converted into a qualification through a skills recognition process. CONSERVATION AND LAND MANAGEMENT Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management AHC31410 Gain the skills you need to work in conservation and land management agencies. You ll be qualified for a range of diverse and rewarding work in natural resource management. You could be employed as a bush crew worker, re-vegetation specialist or technical field assistant for contractors or for agencies such as local councils, North East Water, Parks Victoria, or the Department of Environment and Primary Industries. This course is available for entry level students or those participating in a traineeship. HORTICULTURE Certificate II in Horticulture AHC20410 If you are interested in horticulture then this is your starting point. Horticulture covers turf management, landscaping, parks and gardens, arboriculture, and nursery work. This course provides you with the skills and knowledge required for employment in the horticultural industry in organisations such as local councils, landscape contracting businesses, golf courses or nurseries. As such, this course is open to traineeships only, so the units selected will be tailored to suit your workplace and role. Employer based. Certificate III in Horticulture AHC30710 Available as a traineeship or on campus study, you can gain the knowledge required for working within a horticultural enterprise. Enterprises could include wholesale or retail nurseries or parks and gardens. With some further study you can also specialise in turf management, landscaping or arboriculture. McKoy Street Main Campus, VIC Certificate IV in Horticulture AHC40410 Develop post-trade skills and knowledge across a broad coverage of the horticultural industry. The Certificate IV in Horticulture may help you find employment in a higher level role within your chosen industry sector. Possible job titles relevant to this qualification may include senior horticulturist or horticulture team leader. Certificate III in Sports Turf Management AHC31310 Build the skills and knowledge you need to work in a variety of roles, from a turf management assistant to manager in turf businesses, sporting clubs and local government. This course will develop your skills in machinery operation, turf renovation, turf establishment, turf recognition, soils, pests and diseases, management, and occupational health and safety. This can be completed as part of an apprenticeship or as a standalone course. McKoy Street Main Campus, VIC Diploma of Sports Turf Management AHC51010 Already being experienced in the field, or having lower level qualifications (or both), you ll further learn the technical and practical horticultural skills and knowledge you need to further your career in the turf industry. Skills developed during this course cover plant recognition, plant growth habits, machinery operation, turf renovation, turf establishment, turf recognition, soils, pests and diseases, management, and occupational health and safety. McKoy Street Main Campus, VIC Certificate III in Arboriculture AHC30810 Build a career involving physical strength and fitness, whilst safely and effectively tending to client needs and environmental issues. Developed in consultation with industry, this course will provide you with the skills to gain employment with organisations that need to care for, prune, and remove trees. Whether you ve just become interested in arboriculture or you ve attained a traineeship, your knowledge, skills and ability to operate safely will improve greatly with this course. McKoy Street Main Campus, VIC Diploma of Arboriculture AHC50510 Gain specialist skills and knowledge integrated with practical skills for complex tree climbing, maintenance and management of trees, basic tree felling, transplanting trees and assessment of tree health.
