4 Setting the Scene The Social Value Act requires commissioners to consider securing economic, social, or environmental benefits when buying services above the OJEU threshold*. To comply with the Act, commissioners must think about how what they are going to buy, or how they are going to buy it, could add economic, social, or environmental benefits. There is no authoritative list of what these benefits may be the Act is deliberately flexible because social value is best approached by considering each local context and needs. Social Value Hub

Keepmoat supported Adary Joiners with mentors to help support their business growth and invest in their people. Worked with the Pop-Up Business School to support new business creation Salford Cleaning Company / Miller Catering Company / Bendy Wires Multi Media Production
10 Outcomes Achieved Local People Prioritising Salford people At end Sept 2016, 328 new jobs have been created on the project Across the total workforce 39% are Salford residents 82 apprentices have started on the project 89% of apprentice starts are Salford residents John Jones; Apprentice Plumber, won Highly Commended Apprentice of the Year at the National Apprentice of the Year Awards
11 Outcomes Achieved Local People Social Value Reporting and Apprentice Satisfaction Data Collected via the Apprentice Satisfaction Survey Headlines include: 94 % Satisfaction with support from employer & 98% report becoming more of a team player 94% report becoming more confident & 92% positive influence on behaviours outside of work 45% (21No) of Respondents Unemployed (16 < 25Yrs, 6 Respondents Unemployed for greater than 1Yr 7 Respondents Unemployed for less than 1Yr) Have received 30 positive responses that declares they would now live in Pendleton since the start of the investment works. 1,059, of Social Value gernerated via the HACT
12 Outcomes Achieved Work Readiness Work Placements 285 work placements have been offered and 149 have been completed. 39 people completing work placements have been offered employment on the project. 92% are Salford residents. 21 residents have gained CSCS accreditation GROW Programme (Uses Funding from Cooperative / External Sources) Bespoke Personal Development Programme Referrals from Connextions / Job Centre Plus / Together Housing Voluntary programme requires 2 Days attendance a week for a 2 month period, Key skills that support personal development and progression into employment Covers a range of areas including Numeracy / Literacy to Health and Well Being Provides a framework to progress into education & employment 64 people who are most distant from the employment market engaged
13 Outcomes Achieved Work Readiness Traineeship The Community Initiatives Team have delivered the first traineeship programme with the Salford Council and Salford College apprenticeship ready The Traineeship is a 12-week programme, combining a practical work placement with Maths & English All 12 participants passed CSCS card training. 2 participants left the programme early; one for an apprenticeship and one to go to College. 8 have progressed into further positive outcomes (e.g. jobs, college, apprenticeships). Released over 240,000 of Social Value (HACT) 2 nd programme now linked to Salford City Council to offer a broader range of placements 3 rd programme incorporates other partners including One Manchester (Leaf Street & Royce Road) and Keepmoat Homes (Charlestown & Riverside Scheme, Salford) Salford City Council offering a training allowance for those not in receipt of benefits
