1 NEWSLETTER 2/2015 Tritec receives an award The Second International Conference Scandinavian Business in North Poland took place on May 28 in Białogard. The event was organized by Investment Park of Białogard and Scandinavian-Polish Chamber of Commerce. The conference aims to summarize and analyze the investments of companies from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, as well as present new projects that would make Scandinavian investment possible in the north of Poland. The highlight of the conference was the awards of Janusz Piechnocinski, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Republic of Poland for Scandinavian entrepreneurs for their long-term investment in running businesses in Poland. Tritec is proud to have received the award for our long-term investment in the Polish market. The award will encourage us to continue and develop our investments in Poland. Extension of Test Station to meet requirements of Norsok R002 Davit System Test In May 2015, Tritec Team faced a new test challenge. We received an order for fabrication and testing of Norsok davit. For the purpose of the test we had to adjust the test station to requirements of Norsok R002 Davit System Test. Our engineers are of the opinion that because of the speed and height, the Norsok davit D 5000 test was the most challenging one we had ever performed in Tritec. In order to carry out the test and to fulfi l Norsok standard requirements we had to rebuild our test tower by adding an additional construction which increased the height of the test tower to 17 m, as the requirement was to provide at least 12 m of load lowering. The existing test station includes an outdoor test site to create a prototype, while Factory Acceptance Test has been redesigned in order to effectively test all kinds of combined davit systems based on common frame (skid) winches and any other non-standard projects. This rebuilt facility is probably the only one of its kind for specific research in this region on testing lifting appliances, which will result in faster and more accurate tests of davits systems and not only. 2 Big activity in our prefabrication More and more of our customers enjoy the benefi ts of buying high quality parts for competitive prices. Tritec delivers various parts, ranging from small CNC-machined parts to complete welded and machined prefabricated units, in increasing volumes. We are grateful to our customers for their trust, which gives us more and more confi dence in what we do. Vault - the implementation process and the first project Talents and skills of our designers are not the only factor that affects the quality of design. Capabilities and innovativeness of the software they use is crucial as well. This is the reason why Tritec and Vestdavit have together started to use the Vault Professional system, which enables the designers of both companies to access freely the same database. Using this program, the designers of both companies can work simultaneously on the same fi les without the need to leave their offi ces. The new system also provides more advanced security of such cooperation and the access permissions to the main database may be confi gured individually for each of the users.
3 Internal competence quality certificates One of the key goals of Tritec is continuous improvement to make sure our employees can develop in the best possible way. Throughout last year, our employee, Anna Szafarska, received the following certifi cates: Representative for the system, Expert & Internal Auditor and Lead Auditor, which comply with the DNV standards ISO 9001, ISO and PN-N Our goal is to utilize these skills to facilitate improvement in our already high quality work. We congratulate Anna on gaining new skills. Tritec becomes a MED D approved manufacturer of davits systems designed by Vestdavit MED stands for Marine European Directive. It specifi es rules under which supplier can design and manufacture maritime equipment. Module D requires an operational Quality System which documents detailed procedures and, if used and maintained properly, will ensure that the entire manufactured equipment meets the standard of a prototype that has been awarded a Module B certifi cate. The audit was conducted at the beginning of June by DNV Certifi cation B.V. and confi rmed the compliance of our process standards with Marine Equipment Directive. For over three months, Tritec Project Team s objective was to audit and update our quality systems in order to prove to the classifi cation society that Tritec quality system is more than capable of fulfi lling the requirements of the standard. The above mentioned team, consisting of people that work within the processes and quality on a daily basis, improves the already good traceability and quality of Tritec products. Our skillful work on the quality system has now resulted in it being assessed for conformity and found to comply with the appropriate requirements of Production Quality Assurance under Module D set out in the Marine Equipment Directive. Continuous improvement must be made to keep up the pace and be among the best, qualifying for classifi cations of our own choice.
4 Talent and skills development Tritec management team has tapped into the numerous benefi ts that go with the development of talent and skills through trainings and coaching programs. One of the ways to keep our employees engaged is to initiate dedicated trainings. Coaching is increasingly being used for professional development to trigger positive changes in individuals and to encourage the transfer of knowledge from a coach to the individual. We fi nd coaching highly benefi cial for the career growth of our team. What are our expectations of the results? Well, the goal is to make each of our employees feel like an important, valued member of the company not just another worker. We also organize trainings for production workers. Our company has used the National Training Fund, which will support the development of professional skills. Several employees take part in trainings in the fi elds of welding technology, equipment handling and work at heights. By investing in the development of our employees, we are implementing our strategy of Tritec Experience, which will provide our customers with even better service. Janusz Szkudlarek Project & Quality Manager Visit of Vestdavit AS From May 6 to 8, all the employees of Vestdavit, our major customer, visited our factory in Poland. The visit began with a tour of the new factory in Redzikowo. Our guests could experience state-of-the-art environment that manufactures Vestdavit s products. Before all Vestdavit s and Tritec s employees were invited to a common social gathering in the evening, Vestdavit had had some time to discuss their yearly strategy. The visit constitutes a signifi cant milestone in our cooperation. Our opinion is that close cooperation between employees of all ranks is extremely important in order to create competitive, safe and high-quality products aimed at global markets. We would like to thank all of the employees for dedicating their time to the visit and welcome all back on future occasions.
5 June 9-10 our participation and advertising activities in the region From idea to a successful international cooperation - Pomerania meets Scandinavia & Germany In June this year, Tritec was a vital participant of a conference held at Technology Incubator in Słupsk, the idea of which was to launch a successful cooperation and exchange the best business ideas between Poland, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Germany. The conference aimed to conclude and sum up all of the activities connected with the trade missions organized between 2013 and 2015, presenting practical advice on how to cooperate with the Scandinavians and Germans and showing cultural differences and the way they affect business relations. The visitors, including Deputy Prime Minister of Poland, Minister of Economy, Marshal of Pomorskie Province, PRDA President of the Board, and other guests representing Scandinavian and German markets could take part in Tritec Experience and take a tour of our newly opened factory in Redzikowo to have a look at the implemented innovations and discuss benefi ts of running a successful business in the Pomeranian Region. At work, he likes diversity, in spare time long distances Błażej Krukowski has just started working in Tritec Engineering in Słupsk but he already knows that it was a good decision, because he has many interesting tasks and projects ahead of him in the company. He joined us at the encouragement of his friend, a Tritec employee, although his wife s opinion was deciding. Do you really want to design hydrants for the next few years? she asked. He realised that this was not fulfi lling his ambitions. In this way, Tritec gained a new designer. A 36-year-old mechanical engineer and a graduate of Koszalin University of Technology, he jokes that he wanted to work with machines as early as in childhood, as he used to take his toy cars into pieces. For some time he had been considering to combine his passion for engines with sea adventure; therefore he went to the maritime school in Darłowo, and later began simultaneous studies at the Higher Maritime School in Szczecin and Szczecin University of Technology. Hearing his friends accounts of the work on a ship, he came to the conclusion that he did not want to lead such life. I could not imagine myself being away from home and family for many months, he says. Finally, he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Machine Design at Koszalin University of Technology. Błażej lives in Sławno. Before he came to Tritec, he had worked in three different companies, where he gained experience in various fi elds. In the fi rst company Błażej designed fuel tanks and programmed lasers. In the second one he was an engineer and designer in the welding department. Subsequently he went to a company that manufactured the already mentioned hydrants, where he learned many valuable things as well; after a few years, however, he felt a desire to try something new. My past professional experience will be useful in Tritec, and at the same time I have the opportunity to acquire new skills, as this company takes up various jobs, so that one can develop and has to learn new things, he says. My fi rst task was to design a control panel used to operate a valve. Currently I am working on a set of banisters and railings for staircases. At fi rst, I thought it would be very easy, but it turned out otherwise. It is a laborious project, where one has to pay attention to the smallest details; it is accuracy that counts. After work, Błażej enjoys spending time with his wife and two children: eight-year-old Hania and six-year-old Franek. What is more, they are expecting a new baby, Ignacy, soon. At home Błażej likes to read a good action or fantasy book or listen to good music. However, he fulfi ls his greatest passion outdoors long distance running. He started to train three years ago for health. I put on weight and felt bad about it, he says. He found it hard at the beginning, as he did not know how to properly get round to it. He read about it, tried and gradually was able to run longer and longer distances at a time. He lost 20 kilograms, improved his physical condition and now he cannot imagine a single year without taking part in some big competition. Among others, he has run in marathons in Koszalin and Poznań, and in four 10-kilometre races called Biegi Święców ( Swienca Family Race ) in his home town Sławno. The best score? I think it was in Kołobrzeg, he says I ran 15 kilometres in 58 minutes and 40 seconds. He will have the opportunity to try and beat his personal best in July. He is going to run in four competitions, week after week. (AM)
