2 Inspired by practicality The HON Company is North America s office furniture brand of choice for small and medium-sized businesses. Inspired by practicality and invested in understanding the needs of these customers, we offer a full line of product solutions including workstations, desking, seating, tables, and storage. We take our inspiration from what works. When you do practical really, really well, it s kind of exciting. HON is headquartered in Muscatine, Iowa and has manufacturing facilities strategically located throughout the United States. With our North American network of loyal dealers and retailers, we look forward to supporting your office furniture needs for years to come. 2

3 ON-THE-MARK HNI, our parent company (NYSE: HNI), is also based in Muscatine. Propelled by furniture solutions for the workplace, HNI has grown to become the second largest office furniture manufacturer in North America. 4 Our roots run deep With World War II drawing to a close, our founder C. Maxwell Stanley foresaw a post-war housing boom. He had the idea to start a manufacturing company that would put returning G.I.s to work making steel kitchen cabinets for use in new homes. He invited his brother-in-law, Clement T. Hanson, a successful advertising executive, and H. Wood Miller, an industrial designer, to go into business with him. They called their business Home-O-Nize. C. Maxwell Stanley 1940s 1950s 1970s 2010s Stanley based his business philosophy on a belief that success would come to a company that treated its customers, partners, suppliers, and employees with fairness, honesty, integrity, and respect. With those guiding principles in place and an innovative new product line, Home-O-Nize incorporated in The early days were tough going. A severe steel shortage following the war threatened to close our first factory. But Home-O-Nize survived by going into the contract business. Cleverly, the founders began designing products that could be made from scrap metal left over from our contract work. A 3-by-5 index card file made from recycled aluminum became our first office product. Before long, office products became our primary focus. Because the name Home-O-Nize no longer fit, we began using the acronym H-O-N, which later became HON. We officially became HON Industries in the 1960s. After a few decades of steady growth through profitable acquisitions, shareholders approved a change from HON Industries to HNI Corporation. Today, HNI Corporation manages multiple office furniture brands including HON, Allsteel, Gunlocke, HBF, Paoli, and Maxon and is the parent company for Hearth & Home Technologies, the world s leading producer and installer of hearth products. But it all started with HON, and we re still the largest operating company under HNI. 4

Our functional, effective products and programs can truly be called solutions. We know our solutions work because our products are tested in the HNI Technical Center in accordance to ANSI/BIFMA test requirements. All HONbranded products meet or exceed ANSI/BIFMA standards, and are backed by our Limited Lifetime Warranty. In addition, most of our solutions have earned third-party endorsements that recognize their adherence to important environmental standards. In 2006, The HON Company became the world s first office furniture manufacturer to have products certified by the Indoor Advantage program. Developed by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS), the Indoor Advantage program tests products and processes and recognizes those that meet the emission limits specified by BIFMA s Furniture Emission standards. The HON Company is also among the first manufacturers to receive certification for products under the level certification program, which ensures compliance with the BIFMA e3 Sustainability Standard. We have received level 2 certification for more than 60 product lines, which means more than 80 percent of our product volume has earned this important certification. HON s commitment to continuous improvement sets up a win-win situation. Our team understands the critical importance of doing what we say and delivering as promised. Our production, distribution, and logistics network has capacity to support hundreds of truckloads daily, 7 days a week, shipped nationally or internationally. We have experience in coordinating major projects as well as delivering offices in a box to large customers who have locations dispersed over a wide geographic area. Our whole network is structured to achieve top performance, and it provides the most reliable delivery experience in the industry. 5

Nearly 85 percent of members at all HON facilities contribute a portion of their earnings to their communities through our United Way campaign.
