A background on pro bono: $15 billion in services each year in services 70% of nonprofits have indicated that they need more skilled volunteering, not just extra hands High-impact projects on infrastructure or leadership
Most needed services: Field Pro Bono Need Marketing 52% Board member or executive search 46% Organizational design or coaching 45% Financial advisory or consulting 43% IT 40% Legal counsel 37% Human resources 35% Administrative support 28%
Nonprofits pitch short-cycle, high-impact consulting projects (target: 3-6 months) for help within specific disciplines (communications, IT, legal, HR, etc.) We match Blue Cross employee teams to projects and facilitate planning Employees work with nonprofits using their Team Blue hours to achieve target deliverables

Q: Who is eligible to apply? A: Applicants must meet our general eligibility standards ( Be a designated 501(c)(3) nonprofit Be registered in good standing with the Louisiana Secretary of State Be domiciled in Louisiana (or have a chapter domiciled here)
Q: What makes an application stand out? A: A great application: Has a realistic, defined scope of work with clear deliverables (an end product ) in mind Is backed by a strong, flexible leader who is involved and willing to pitch in Meets and organizational need (not solving an inconvenient issue)
Q: What are the greatest lessons learned from last year s applicants? A: Make sure staff and team members are ready to implement and willing to give the time. Make sure your board is behind the program. Be flexible and trust your BCBSLA Fellows. (But remember, you are the client.) Set project milestones and deadlines along the way. Communication is key.
Q: What other tips do you have for us? A: We typically avoid broad, open-ended strategic planning projects it s too resource intensive for volunteers (but check with LANO). As a CEO/ED, are you asking to give you a tool to move the organization forward, or solve a problem? Picture in your mind the physical thing that our employee consultants will hand over to you at the end of this ride. That will keep you focused.
