32 PARENTS GUIDE The Government have raised the participation age which now means that all young people must stay in education or training until the age of 18. Staying in education or training does not mean that they have to stay at School or go onto Sixth Form, Apprenticeships and Study Programmes are an alternative option. KITS want your son or daughter to be successful in their chosen career pathway and we know that you do too. That is why KITS are committed to supporting all of our learners to ensure that they achieve the best they can. KEEPING YOU INFORMED AT EVERY STEP We understand that your son or daughter s pathway to achieving their ambitions is not always straight forward and that you as parents may not get the full picture, which is why KITS will always be available to you and can provide you with Information, Advice and Guidance about their journey. You will be provided with copies of your son or daughter s six-weekly and termly reports throughout their course. These will allow you to keep abreast of their achievements, their work and their next progression steps. The reports come from both KITS and Calderdale College, who deliver the Technical Certificate element of the Apprenticeship qualifications. PARENTS INDUCTION EVENINGS Ahead of your son or daughter starting their journey at KITS we invite all parents to dedicated Induction Evenings. These will provide you with the 29
