3 Please note that the Training Package allows for units in this qualification to be assessed simultaneously with other units. This means that some tasks that you will do for a specific unit may be used to assess other units that are similar in terms of elements and performance criteria. This is called holistic assessment it increases the efficiency and realism of the assessment process. So don t go looking for all of the units, listed in the table on the previous page, in your file or on your CD as some units are being assessed together. We have colour coded the units that are being assessed together so you can get a better idea of what units are being assessed holistically. These units appear on page 6. 1 x CD titled Student guides and assessments containing 7 FOLDERS Each folder contains student guides and associated assessment tasks such as readings and assignments. Open your CD and it should look like this. Click on the folder and it will have a student guide (pdf) and your assignments which are provided in word. doc so you can type directly into them. 3
4 What do I have to complete for assessments? Each unit guide will explain the assessment task/s required to complete that unit. See section in each Student Guide titled: When will Assessment be carried out? Example: Extract from PSPGOV412A Unit Use advanced communication strategies. Assessment tasks for this unit Purpose and context Student task 1: identify and list information to be sought from manager about a complaint. 5 How do I complete the units for my qualification? Some of the units will be done through flexible and open learning and these are outlined on the table over-page. These units can be done in your own time and at your own pace. Some of the units will be done through face-to face delivery over a four-day course and these units are also outlined in the table. The units done in the four-day course are what we call your, most important key units in terms of investigation skills. Step 1: Step 2: Step 3: Step 4: Step 5: Step 6: Copy all of the folders from the CD onto your desktop into a folder, let s call it Cert IV Investigations, or something like that. Read through the student guides for each unit and complete the assessments indicated in the section within your guide called, When will assessments be carried out?, which is at the front section of each student guide. Complete the student tasks associated with each unit, in most cases you will be typing into the word.doc templates provided in each folder. Even though the assignment tasks will also appear in your student guide, it is a pdf file and therefore you cannot type into a pdf, that s why we have provided you with your assessment tasks in word.doc. When you have completed all of your assessment tasks for a particular unit then forward your assessments either by to craig@paragontraining.com.au or paragon1@iinet.net.au or by post: C4 / 58 Newcastle Street, Perth WA Your assignments will be marked and forwarded back to you with feedback within 48 hours of receipt. Model answers will be provided to you after you have forwarded your work to give you some idea of how your work compares to industry standard. After your facilitator has assessed all your work for the units, and you have completed your major assignment; and all of your work is assessed as competent, you will receive your qualification certificate along with a statement of academic record. 5
