3 Our Strengths Our members our partners our network 1. The EQAsce considers itself a European network node. We connect knowledge developers, knowledge provider, consultants and experts for quality questions in the agrifood industry. Supported by 23 founding members from the agri-food industry with the broad experience of standard owners, certification bodies, service companies in quality management, universities and private educational institutions, we are particularly well positioned. Together we form the first European Public-Private-Partnership- Network in this field of education. EQAsce is supported by excellent partners including the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Qualität (DGQ) as well as the European counterpart, the European Organization for Quality (EOQ). The course content of EQAsce is harmonized in accordance with the European training concept. The certificates are issued in English and are also recognized by the European Organization of Quality (EOQ). Our global connections to the global value chains for food and feed were the reason to develop and offer a specific training for new professional activities in quality, risk and crisis management. In addition to the service centre within the Innovation centre of Bonn.realis in Bonn, EQA offices in the region of Münster and in the polish Agro Innovation Cluster in Warsaw (Poland) have been set up. A third is currently being set up in the Spanish city of Segovia. 3

Our Clients The EQA services are aimed at first at the external customers, which are companies of the agri-food industry, responsibles in charge of quality, risk, crisis and audit management tasks or organizers of branchspecific courses, seminars and congresses. In addition, the EQA members will be considered as internal customers (see Fig. 1). For them, support services are organized that cannot be carried out by each individual member in the same way such as the organization of international events or the implementation of pilot projects. One focus of recent months was on the promotion of cooperation among the members. Hence a number of projects have emerged like the initiatives SmartSafe, SmartPork, SmartHealth und SmartChain. 5 Our Offers Our offers are especially aimed at employees of agricultural and food industrial businesses, which are faced with the challenge, to assert their competitive position in the international setting. Essentially there are four requirements, which have to be captured, interpreted and implemented: Continuous improvement of transparency and trust in the existing client-supplier-relationship To be prepared for unannounced audits by standard setters within the conformity assessment Making use of the opportunities of the major revision of the ISO 9001:2015 and standards like IFS and GlobalGAP Systematic risk assessment of introducing new identification, traceability and examination systems from a technical and organizational perspective Therefore, the industry came to the force to jointly create and operate in-dustry-shared platforms such as SmartSafe with the Abb. 2: EQA initiative SmartSafe help of the EQAsce coordination service. SmartSafe is about modernizing coordination processes for the establishment of chain oriented identification, traceability and examination systems, by using rapid information and communication systems. Within the initiative SmartSafe, the EQAsce coordinates the cross-sectoral tasks of the shared platform for different pilot chains. 5 3.

6 Fig. 3: EQA qualification fields according to EOQ CoS Scheme 6 EQA s qualification offer in five new areas is based on the collaboration of the European Organization for Quality (EOQ), the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the European Organization for Quality. The aimed EOQ s recognition of the EQA person certificates marks the path of European networking in the context of our Lifelong learning offer for the future.

7 Our Connections European wide recognition of EQA qualification 4. New degrees in risk and crisis management can only be created by international cooperation of institutions in the quality sector. Within the established national and European quality organizations the EQA represents the branch interests in the harmonization of requirements for training programs in the agriculture and food sector (Fig. 4). Appreciated is on the one hand the EQA s branch expertise and many years of experience, both in the interpretation of standards as well as during the compliance assessment in companies of agri-food sector. Therefore, agri-food sector specific legal and standard-related requirements are particularly taken into account. Fig. 4: Recognition of EQA qualification 7

The EQA approved lecturers have extensive professional experience and knowledge on the structure and the continuous improvement of quality systems and branch standards and on standard requirements. A key objective of our training philosophy is the long-term capacity building of the participants in the sense of lifelong learning (see Fig. 5). Here, the entry may already be the arranging of courses for EQA certificates of competence in diverse fields of responsibility of the agri-food industry. 9 New Qualification Offers EQA-qualification offer in the field Food Safety & Health 6. As of late in Europe exist the qualifications EQA Responsible and EQA Manager for the fields Food Chain such as Food Safety & Health. The courses are the basis for the two-stage design to System Managers in the fields on corporate quality management, environmental and energy and risk management with coordination functions (concentrate organizations, producer groups, marketing service providers) in international supply chains of the agri-food sector. The aim is, to enable the graduates to be able to understand their organization as a system to identify the features and potentials of standardized management systems and to realize the integration of management systems and develop. 11 EQA qualification offers in the field crisis management For the first time we offer qualification paths to an EQA Responsible and EQA Manager Risk and Crisis Management. In recent years, the agri-food sector was repeatedly confronted with scandals and crises. Not only individual companies but often all sectors and value chains were affected by these exceptional situations. Some even severely threatened in their existence. In order to survive on the long term at international markets, a number of companies have already instructed people from the management level with tasks in crisis management teams. Even in public organizations in the food and healthcare monitoring are employees focus on tasks in task forces and crisis management teams. Block Risk and Crisis Management EQA Responsible Risk and Crisis Management take over the cross-section task security officer or manager. If a crisis committee or a task force crosssection task security officer, primarily depends on how well each member is prepared for a possibly occurring crisis and how the team reacts in the first minutes / hours of a crisis. EQA System Manager Risk and Crisis Management For these groups of managers, it is important to know about product-, process- and business-related risks and to manage or to 11
