2 About Method Our 2018 salary guide presents data gathered and analyzed from a variety of Minnesota companies, including established Fortune 500, midsized organizations, and smaller emerging businesses. We compared our numbers, using actual salaries from our recent placements and market observations from our recruitment team, with those available from several national resources. Our market insight is gathered from our team of industry experts and supplemented with national and local research from organizations including the Minnesota High Tech Association and the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. The Salary Ranges Salaries shown are base pay ranges for fulltime employees and take into account differences based on years of experience, department staff size, and overall organization size. Within each job title, we differentiated based on years of experience to best reflect market value and help clients determine, based on their budget for the role, the experience level they can require. The pay ranges do not account for discretionary bonuses or other compensation. Our observation over the years has shown that years of experience tend to have the most significant impact on pay rates in technology and we analyzed our ranges accordingly. While organization size has some effect on salary, we have found that some smaller companies pay higher salaries, while some larger organizations pay more moderate salaries, so the size of a company does not shine much light on the variance in pay in the Twin Cities market. Insight for 2018 Hiring One of the biggest struggles for business and technology departments is Minnesota s enduring tech talent and skills shortage. The higher demand requires companies to adjust hiring practices. To secure the best talent, you must move quickly in your hiring process, know what skills and characteristics you need before posting a role and interviewing, and create a userfriendly screening process.
