1 Employment Screening Services, Inc. Employment Verification Program (EVP) Quick Instructions To enter a new E-Verify inquiry: (1) (2) (3) 1. Go to ESS IRAS website Enter Username and Password. 2. The menu bar at the top of the screen lists the various topics. 3. Select Form I-9/E-Verify, then E-Verify and then New E-Verify from the menu at the top. NOTE: One of the requirements of participation in the E-Verify Program is that the four Workplace Posters available in the help area About I9/E-Verify are posted in a location visible to your applicants E-Verify Quick Instructions Employment Screening Services, Inc. 2 4. Enter your new employee information on the Start New E-Verify page. Use the format of mm/dd/yy for the date and for the SSN and click <Submit>. (4) 5. After a few seconds a new window will appear with the employee s data entered. (modify entries if needed). Choose employee status by clicking on one of the following selections: a. <A citizen or national of the United States> b. or <A Lawful Permanent Resident (Alien #) A> and enter #. c. or <An alien authorized to work until> and enter #. 3 6. From Select a Document pull down menu choose either List B and C Documents or one of the other documents listed (List A.) 7. Check the affirmation box at bottom of page stating that Section 1 and 2 of the I-9 Form have been completed, signed and dated as required by law. 8. Click <Process EVP>. 9. After reviewing the highlighted form, click the <Continue EVP Process>. (6) (7) (8) 10. After processing, the EVP comes back as Employment Authorized and is automatically resolved or Tentative Non Confirmation which requires further action. (See ESS EVP Results Outline. ) The Case Number on the right side of the form is a unique, government issued 15-digit number specifically associated with this employment eligibility query. 4 EVP Results Outline EVP result will be either employment Authorized or SSA Tentative Non- Confirmation. If authorized the system stores the information in the EVP Archives under View of the main menu. If a Tentative Non-Confirmation result is found the case will be held in Pending EVPs. All pending items must be addressed. SSA Tentative Non-Confirmation 1. If SSA non-confirmation then click <Print Notice to Employee> of Tentative Non- Confirmation. 2. Have employee Contest or Not Contest result by marking the notice. 3. Mark SSA Contest or Not Contest in the system. 4. If not contest then click <Employment Terminated/Unauthorized>. 5. If contest then click <Print SSA Referral> Letter. 6. Give letter to employee and instruct him/her to contact SSA. 7. Click <SSA Referral>. 8. After employee has visited SSA then click <Final SSA Request>. 9. SSA result will be one of the following: (1) Employment Authorized (2) SSA Final Non-Confirmation (3) DHS Verification in Process (a) Wait for notification from Form I-9 Compliance regarding status. (b) If authorized the system stores the information in the EVP Archives under View of the main menu. DHS Tentative Non-Confirmation 1. If DHS non-confirmation then click <Print DHS Notice to Employee>. 2. Have employee Contest or Not Contest result by marking the notice. 3. Mark DHS Contest or Not Contest in the system. 4. If not contest then click <Employment Terminated/Unauthorized>. 5. If contest then click <Print DHS Referral> Letter. 6. Give letter to employee and instruct him/her to contact DHS. 7. Click <DHS Referral>. 8. Wait for notification from Form I-9 Compliance regarding status. 9. DHS result will be one of the following: (1) Employment Authorized (2) Employment Not Authorized (3) DHS No Show which is considered a Final Non-Confirmation For a complete overview of the E-Verify Process please see the About I9/E-Verify help section.
