1 Job Description: Field Service Technician Energy Systems is seeking a generator service technician to control our branch on Oahu, Hawaii. The office is located in Kapolei. Candidate must live on Oahu or be willing to relocate there. This is a one person operation; with main headquarters located in Northern California. Candidate must be a self-starter able to manage day to day operations. Requires travel to all islands. Must be proficient in knowledge of all brands of generators and transfer switch gear. Successful candidate must be able to repair and service generators, make customer visits as representative of company, take customer calls, and be on call for emergencies 24/7. 1. PURPOSE 1.1. The purpose of this description is to establish and define the authority, accountability, reporting relationships, responsibilities, duties and measure of performance of the Field Service Technician at E.S. West Coast, LLC, dba Energy Systems. 2. BASIC FUNCTION 2.1. The Field Service Technician is responsible for trouble shooting, repairing, performing preventative maintenance, and start-ups on generator equipment including automatic transfer switches The Field Service Technician will perform the work necessary for him to achieve acceptable customer satisfaction with the efficient use of assigned resources. 3. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS 3.1. The Field Service Technician reports directly to and is fully accountable to the Service Manager Note: In the absence of a Service Manager, the technicians report directly to the General Manager and or President. 4. JOB REQUIREMENTS 4.1. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to complete all areas outlined for this position in a satisfactory manner. 2 accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. 4.2 Must have and maintain a clean drug and background screening EDUCATION Required: High School Degree or equivalent LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATIONS Required: Valid Driver s License Maintain a clean driving record Generac Industrial Certified (MPS a plus) EXPERIENCE Mechanical and electrical knowledge Has knowledge of equipment manufactured by Kohler, MTU, Cummins, Generac, Caterpillar, Zenith, ASCO, Basler, Woodward and Barber-Coleman Must have experience with 6kW to 2000 kw diesel and gaseous fueled generator sets, automatic transfer switches, and distribution switchgear Willingness to train in the company programs to excel his or her generator knowledge Equipment Common hand tools and electrical meter required to perform necessary troubleshooting, repair and maintenance as part of daily job duties SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES TO: Good organization skills Able to work well unsupervised Able to work overtime, some weekends and travel out of town Attention to detail Excellent human relation skills Self-motivated Good mechanical/electrical aptitude Able to comprehend and troubleshoot from wiring schematics.
3 Knowledge in A/C and D/C electrical Knowledge on the basic workings of a diesel engine Knowledge on the basic workings of a gaseous engine Association with generator equipment for a minimum of one year preferred, but not required Computer literate and capable of utilizing basic computer functions like PDF navigation, up loading and down-loading programs is preferred but not required Effectively communicate, in English, both verbally and in writing WORKING CONDITIONS The normal auto and air travel hazards will apply This position will be frequently working around electricity and other potential hazards. Appropriate safety equipment and appropriate safety practices are required Some lifting will be required. Lifting a minimum of 50lbs to include items such as cable, batteries, fuel, lube oil and coolant containers Physical demands may include; standing for long periods of time, walking some distances, climbing, stooping, kneeling and crouching, driving long periods of time The noise level in the work environment can reach levels where noise protection is required around power generating equipment. 5. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 5.1. Responsible for the efficient, effective, safe, economical use of service department resources to accomplish your job assignment Maintain, adjust, and repair fixed and portable electrical power generating equipment Maintain, adjust, and repair control systems, transfer switches, and associated equipment Perform service and inspections on fixed and portable electrical power generating equipment Recommend any additional corrective action to customer and service coordinator Identifies and records engine and generator malfunctions Uses precision test equipment to perform all service and repair work.

Troubleshoot malfunctions and/or problems with generators and automatic transfer switches Diagnose problems using laptop computers and software Able to resolve some technical issues via phone Supports and maintains user account information in database Perform corrosion control Review performance data and maintenance records to determine adequacy of maintenance Deliver, install and maintain portable power generating equipment Perform start-ups on new power generation equipment Perform warranty work on power generation equipment Process required paperwork in a timely manner Ensure that all warranty work orders are prepared properly according to warranty policies and that all warranty parts are tagged and turned in Responsible for parts inventory on service truck Responsible for maintenance and cleanliness of service truck Responsible for laptop and cellular phone usage Responsible for tracking time and expenses each day Responsible for maintaining a clean, neat and orderly work area Participate in the rotating responsibility of a 24/7 on-call technician rotation Maintain a library or database of service related literature or information Maintain vehicle maintenance logs and records Answers appropriate customer inquiries satisfactorily and requests help in locating the proper information as necessary to resolve the issue Seeks out new service business Maintain professional appearance Performs any other duty or task as may be assigned form time to time by the Service Manager, General Manager, or President. 6. MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE

The ability to work as a team member with all service personnel and deliver an acceptable level of profitability while adhering to customer satisfaction and corporate policy standard Service truck equipment, inventory, and property have been properly accounted for and maintained PM and Service Call jobs are being accomplished in an organized and timely manner Company policies and procedures are properly followed Paperwork/documentation related to customer or internal work is accurate and processed in a timely manner.
