2 What does DQS Benchmarking mean for you? Has your organization, your company or your facility been regularly assessed by DQS for many years now? Or maybe this will be your first certification by DQS? Either way, during a comprehensive initial or re-assessment according to valid accreditation or notification requirements, DQS will provide you with a well-founded evaluation of the maturity level of your management system. For those criteria most essential to your management system, we will also identify comparison values from your industry, business, or service sector, for example; or from countries and regions where your company is active on the markets. From now on, an assessment by DQS will let you know exactly where you stand and how you can get to where you want to be. How does DQS Benchmarking work? The framework for DQS Benchmarking is provided by the classic Plan-Do-Check-Act management cycle. We have assigned a total of eleven essential criteria to its fields of action. These criteria are based on the requirements of international management system standards, such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or OHSAS. 4 Know where you stand with DQS Benchmarking Maturity level Actions for improvement The maturity level of each individual criterion will be determined and evaluated. In addition, you will be shown the overall direction in which your organization will have to develop in order to achieve an improvement of that particular criterion. The result of this evaluation will be presented in the closing meeting, and documented in the audit report. 5 Benchmarking (also best practice benchmarking or process benchmarking ) is a process used in management and particularly strategic management, in which organizations evaluate various aspects of their processes in relation to best practice, usually within their own sector. This then allows organizations to develop plans on how to adopt such best practice, usually with the aim of increasing some aspect of performance. 6 Questions and Answers on DQS Benchmarking How will my organization benefit from DQS Benchmarking? With the DQS Benchmarking Initiative, we will evaluate the maturity level of your management system on the basis of internationally recognized evaluation methods. In addition, we will also identify comparison values for your organization ( Benchmarks ) from your competitive environment, which will provide you with a relative evaluation of your maturity level and fields of action. That is how we can further advance the continuous improvement of your competitive ability. Does that mean you will make my organization s evaluation visible for other organizations? Not at all. It goes without saying that any results from our assessments will remain completely confidential. We prepare the comparison values, whether in respect of business or industry sectors or regions, based on assessment results only, after deleting any identifying data. From this, we then determine the performance spectrum of all organizations certified by DQS, and present them for your sector or region. Ours is a rather small organization, with only twelve employees. Can we take part in DQS Benchmarking? Of course! Any organization, no matter its size or business sector, can benefit from DQS Benchmarking. What is the cost of DQS Benchmarking? DQS Benchmarking is a special service provided during a comprehensive initial or re-assessment according to valid accreditation or notification requirements that is, any initial or re-assessment. No additional audit days are required. We want to develop our organization more quickly. Can we take advantage of DQS Benchmarking on an annual basis? Yes. Advancement assessments that is the annual audits between initial and re-assessment only address selected aspects of your management system, though. DQS Benchmarking, on the other hand, is based on a comprehensive assessment of your management system. By increasing the amount of audit days in accordance with the size of your organization we will be able to evaluate all system criteria even in-between the certification audits, and prepare a DQS Benchmarking profile for you. No. In order to use DQS Benchmarking to your organization s advantage, it takes highly qualified auditors with many years of management experience and knowledge of internationally recognized evaluation methods.
