Rainbow Sports Club is seeking a Ski Area Manager to actively manage and coordinate the Rainbow Ski Area including all aspects of on-mountain operations, maintenance and infrastructure. Located in Rainbow Valley, near St Arnaud Nelson Lakes, Rainbow Ski Area is a club owned & operated ski field operating on a commercial basis, with a team of approximately forty seasonal staff. You will be responsible for pre-season field preparation and in-season operations for the 2018 & subsequent seasons. You will report to the General Manager, Rainbow Sports Club, who is responsible for overall club operations. This is a multi-facetted role ideally suited to an individual with five or more years management or supervisory experience in a broad range of ski field operational areas. You will be people focused and operational minded, and know how to roll up your sleeves to get the job done. You thrive on leading a team to success. Your previous ski industry experience: Will include experience with ski lift infrastructure, access roads, snowmaking, grooming & snow management, customer services, snow school, alpine utilities & buildings maintenance, ski industry health and safety systems, and compliance record keeping & reporting. A comprehensive understanding of relevant industry codes of practice and standards is essential. Qualifications and endorsements: You will need a current full NZ drivers licence including wheels, rollers and tracks endorsement. Relevant ski industry technical qualifications or ski industry tertiary qualifications would be highly beneficial. Your primary focus will be on the safe and successful running of the Rainbow Ski Area. We are looking to maximize the resources by ensuring the lifts and facilities open early and stay functioning throughout the season. Your working locations: Off season your office base is flexible with regular trips to St Arnaud for working parties and meeting with contractors, volunteers & staff; with on field living required (and provided) on the mountain during the season. Role duration per year: We envisage this role to be active for months of the year and are looking for a manager that will provide consistency to the ski field and be part of our Rainbow team for years to come. This role has the chance to affect the ski field in a positive way & help people enjoy their time on the slopes whether it be skiing, snowboarding or hiring a toboggan. 2 About Us: The Rainbow Ski Area is owned and operated by the Rainbow Sports Club Inc. Located high in the north of the great Southern Alps mountain chain within the world famous Nelson/Marlborough region and reaching a height of over 1760 metres, Rainbow captures regular winter snow, complemented by extensive snow making, all superbly groomed to create a stunning winter playground. With an annual membership of over 500 and an additional 15,000+ ticket sales by casual members we are a busy boutique field that boasts wide uncrowded slopes and well groomed trails. We provide great terrain for beginners / intermediates yet still provide advanced skiers and snow boarders challenging riding in the high powder runs and chutes. Café licensees. All ski area staff including Roads & Maintenance, Lifts, Rentals, Snowmaking & Grooming, Customer Service, Snow School, Café, & Ski Patrol. Club Members, District Councils, Sport Tasman, Sponsors, Schools, Regulatory Authorities, Race Teams, Suppliers Rainbow Ski Area Committee has as its Strategic Goals Stay an accessible and fun facility to foster snow-sports in our region Better than compliant, a responsible guardian of the land and people s safety Sustainable financially Sense of ownership among community, council and business Striving to improve the experience for users of all levels (a pragmatic approach to making Rainbow the best it can be) To achieve these goals, Rainbow has a 5-year plan. To facilitate this Rainbow is appointing both a full time GM and Ski Area Manager to take care of the off season preparation and maintenance and the in season running of the field

4 Tasks Manage the profitable, safe & sustainable operation of the ski area Expected Results Work with the GM to ready for the mountain for opening Undertaking Repairs and Maintenance and preparing budgets for ongoing upgrades Immaculate safety record with improving process and reporting. Safety focus across all stakeholders Ensure all facilities are opening for as much as snow and weather will allow Run working bees for volunteers and employees Manage the pre-season and in-season maintenance & documentation of all infrastructure; Execute against plan with quarterly reporting to targets and weekly reporting in season. Manage and coordinate the ski area infrastructure operations including lifts, road access and maintenance, snow making & snow management, utilities (power, water, sewage, communications), mechanical (vehicles, groomers, generators and stationery engines), buildings cleaning and upkeep, and waste disposal & recycling operations; including operational record-keeping. Ensure compliance with all national and local statutory requirements, including maintenance of compliance records and documentation in the prescribed format; Completed documentation that is updated in a timely manner Regular weekly status reports to the General Manager, in a format as specified by the General Manager.

5 Adherence to the company health and safety plan With the Operations Manager Review and update the Rainbow Safety Management System to incorporate any changes in processes, infrastructure, organization etc Ensure your safety and the safety of others are the first consideration Ensure that the ski area infrastructure is operated in a profitable, safe & sustainable manner; Review and act on customer complaints/ suggestions. Initiate and review member and staff surveys Record and report on improving NPS scores Manage Rainbow Staffing and Staff Development Prepare staffing roster and rates with RSCI Committee for the coming season. Review employment applications, select staff, and prepare offers of employment for approval by the RSCI Committee, with assistance from the Club Administrator. Initiate and review regular staff checkins conducted by appropriate manager Ensure development programmes in place for staff Provide leadership and management for the Operations team including Lifts, Snowmaking, Grooming, Maintenance & Roads departments. Regular staff checkins, Develop infrastructure for sustainable growth Represent the brand Implement and upgrade IT infrastructure for better reporting and reduced slippage Be the face of Rainbow, positive interactions with the members and public.

6 Within the operational and capital expenditure budgets agreed by the RSCI Committee from time to time, and Within the range of specific authorities that the RSCI Committee delegate from time to time, and In conjunction with the aims and strategic goals of the RSCI Committee with respect to services and benefits for RSCI members, and In conjunction with policies of the RSCI Committee as formulated from time-to-time. Limitation of Authority The Ski Area Manager s authority is defined in RSCI Policy # 4 - Delegated Authorities. Licenses and Qualifications The Ski Area Manager shall maintain all licenses and qualifications required to fulfil their duties. The Ski Area Manager will at all times hold a current full NZ Driver License with Wheels and Tracks endorsements. Relevant technical qualifications or tertiary qualifications are desirable. Specific Ski Area Management Duties Pre-Season Responsibilities (March through May): Ensure that all RSCI equipment that requires safety certification is properly certified before use, and that records are maintained of any tests, checks and certifications carried out. Ensure that all agreed pre-season maintenance tasks are completed in a timely manner with due regard to operational and weather related constraints, and that all maintenance work is documented and recorded in accordance with RSCI procedures and any statutory requirements. Ensure that all ski area infrastructure is in an operational & safe state by the start of the ski season, and that where this is not achievable the General Manager is informed in a timely manner, Ensure that adequate stocks of operational supplies are ordered and procured in a timely manner (including diesel, oil stocks, and spare parts for mechanical and lifts maintenance) In-Season Responsibilities (June through October). Commissioning of the ski area ready for the coming season, Manage operations staff inductions and ski area familiarisations, Manage snow-making and snow management operations to ensure timely and speedy opening of all ski area terrain as early as practical in the season, and ensure that snowmaking records are maintained in accordance with RSCI procedures, Manage & coordinate the overall in-season operations of the ski area infrastructure including lifts, road access and maintenance, snow making & snow management, utilities (power, water, sewage, communications), mechanical (vehicles, groomers, generators and stationery engines), buildings cleaning and upkeep, and waste disposal and recycling operations, and ensure that operational records are maintained in accordance with RSCI procedures and any statutory requirements,

7 Ensure that all RSCI equipment that requires safety certification is properly certified throughout the operational period, is removed from use if certification expires or there is reason to believe that the equipment is faulty, and that records are maintained of any tests, checks and certifications carried out. Manage and maintain stocks of operational supplies for ski area operations including diesel & fuel, oil stocks and spare parts, and ensure that records for diesel, oil and parts usage are maintained in accordance with RSCI procedures. Ensure that all statutory compliance obligations for Rainbow infrastructure are carried out at the prescribed timeframes, and that any required data is submitted to statutory bodies in the prescribed format and within the prescribed time-frames, Ensure that required in-season operating maintenance for all ski area infrastructure is carried out in accordance with RSCI and manufacturers procedures and recommended intervals. Ensure that the RSCI Safety Management Plan and any other practices as required by relevant legislation are complied with by all operations staff. Liaise with and coordinate the activities of operations department supervisors to ensure that management expectations are clearly defined and communicated, and that optimum use of personnel resources is achieved. Manage, lead and support all operations personnel to ensure that management expectations are clearly defined and communicated, and that employee satisfaction is maintained. Review operations staff timesheets to ensure accurate reporting and appropriate staff utilisation. Post-Season Responsibilities: Assist General Manager with the ski area close-down routine, service equipment as required, list summer maintenance requirements. Review season operations with the General Manager Review targets and recommend for next season. List recommended capital and maintenance works. Ensure that all maintenance and compliance documentation and records are complete and up to date, and stored in the correct location in accordance with RSCI procedures and any statutory requirements. Ensure that all compliance records required to be submitted to statutory organisations are submitted in the correct format and within the prescribed time-frames. RSCI s Performance Requirements of the Ski Area Manager - All ski area infrastructure has been prepared to the agreed standard, and within the agreed budget, by opening day. Operational expenses have been kept within budgetary levels or lower Purchases and orders placed with suppliers on behalf of RSCI have been recorded and approved in accordance with RSCI policies. Employee satisfaction within all operations departments has been maintained throughout the season, and staff turn-over within these teams has been low or nil.

8 Operations staff time sheets have been reviewed for accuracy and any issues arising have been adequately addressed. Inter-departmental cooperation has been achieved including optimum utilization of staff resources in all departments. Accidents and incidents due to non-compliance by operations staff with the Rainbow Ski Area Safety Plan have been nil. Snow-making operations have provided enough man-made snow to make up for any shortfall in natural snow in accordance with RSCI snowmaking goals. Natural snow-fall has been managed and groomed to ensure optimum maintenance of the agreed groomed runs. Customer accidents, incidents and delays on the access road due to inadequate maintenance, inappropriate chain-fitting calls, or not carrying chains have been few or nil. Prolonged closures after storm events have been few or nil, Customer complaints and accidents due to poor maintenance of the ski area environment within the controlled area have been few or nil. Diesel usage for power generation has been maintained within budgeted levels, or lower. Routine maintenance of all RSCI infrastructure has been carried out at the recommended intervals, and accurate and comprehensive records of this maintenance have been maintained. Failures and breakdowns of all RSCI infrastructure have been recorded in the RSCI Maintenance Programme on the portal, repair/remediation actions completed in a timely manner where practical, and Maintenance Programme records updated of any such repair/remediation. Failures in the sewage and water systems have been few or nil, and resource consent conditions have been met throughout the season. Full and accurate status reports in the prescribed format have been received by the General Manager at the agreed frequency. Full and accurate details of any "exception" events have been communicated promptly to the General Manager. The post-season close down process has been completed in accordance with the close-down procedure.
