1 LEAD BUSINESS INSIGHTS POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Title: Responsible To: Council Program: Lead Business Insights Manager, Business Engagement Information Management - Engage Classification Level: Salaried, Level 8 Overview of Program The Information Management Program will provide innovative technology solutions that add value to the City and Community Key Relationships / Interactions Internal External Associate Directors and Team Leaders IM Partnering with programs to deliver business improvements and smart city initiatives. All staff as users of IM systems and participants in records management Local Government and State Government bodies Service providers, suppliers and contractors
2 Primary Purpose Responsibilities As part of the Information Management Engage Program the Team the Lead Business Insights will; Work closely with business stakeholders, data and transform team members to ensure the advanced analytics service delivers desired business and strategic outcomes, whilst progressively maturing and enhancing enterprise data analytics and data science. Provide strategic advice and insights that contribute to the delivery of Council s strategic outcomes. Work closely with stakeholders, data stewards, project/product managers and other IM teams to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound organizational decisions. Apply proven communication, collaboration, analytical and problem-solving skills to ensure that advanced analytics deliverables are met according to business needs. The Lead Business Insights is responsible for; As part of an agile delivery team, liaising with strategic stakeholders to identify key drivers behind business analytic needs for the Corporation and its alignment with strategic outcomes. Identifying and developing research goals that align to the strategic goals and outcomes of Council. Consulting and engaging with end users and subject matter experts to identify, develop, document, validate and endorse the requirements of their unit to ensure successful delivery of end user advanced analytics. Presentation of findings to the business by exposing their assumptions and validation work in a way that can be easily understood by the business. Contributing to the conceptualisation, development and implementation of models to support and promote the effective use of advanced analytics across the business and provide advanced training as required. Leading discovery processes with business stakeholders to identify the business requirements and the expected outcome. Modelling and framing business scenarios that are meaningful and which impact on critical business processes and/or decisions. Managing and leading a team to deliver consistent service outcomes and continuous improvements, including planning and allocating staff resources, developing, coaching and mentoring employees and managing performance. Working with diverse and senior stakeholders, provide consulting and specialist advice, shaping and delivering strategic initiatives through business case creation, requirements gathering, solution assessment and selection, benefits management, implementation and process change management. Influencing senior stakeholders through skilful negotiation, with a willingness to present and defend recommendations that drive the direction of strategic initiatives. Working closely with Data Architects and the Transformation team to understand the impact of new or changed information requirements and their interpretation into the enterprise information architecture. Developing scenarios for analytic hypothesis definition and liaise with the Transform and Support team to operationalise recurring analyses. 3 Ensuring compliance to processes and procedures identified in IM Quality Management Framework. Ensuring compliance to other Council policies, procedures and other Legislative requirements. Using and caring for equipment, including personal protective equipment, as instructed. Not intentionally or recklessly interfering with or misusing workplace equipment and supplies in a manner that could adversely affect health, safety or welfare in the workplace. 4 Selection Criteria Candidates should ensure that their application clearly demonstrates their ability to meet the Criteria detailed below. Qualifications People Management A tertiary qualification in Information Management or related field and/or commensurate demonstrated experience in lieu of formal qualifications. Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and engage a multi-function team, manage change and operate in an environment that promotes excellence. Demonstrated ability to support staff across a range of complex projects in the delivery of ACC strategic object. Financial Skills & Acumen An awareness of commercial acumen and strong sense of accountability. Technical Knowledge & Experience Project Management Innovation & Initiative Resource Management & Decision Making Technical skills in the use of business intelligence tools similar to Power BI, R and other statistical and data management packages. Excellent requirement elicitation, data modelling and documentation skills. Advanced data analysis and visualisation skills. Strong data warehouse knowledge and data modelling skills. Ability to provide expert advise to a variety of stakeholders. Proven acumen to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects to achieve high quality outcomes on time and within budget. Prepared to take ownership and accountability for deliverables. Demonstrated ability for innovative and creative solution creation, across complex issues that may impact the whole organisation. Proven ability to work collaboratively within a high functioning leadership team which values innovation and creativity. Building and developing simple and powerful business focussed solution. Proven ability to make independent decisions and work under limited direction, having regard to organisational policy guidelines, practices and political influences. Ability to effectively utilise allocated resources which includes planning, delegating and prioritising. Ability to prioritise and be flexible when responding to changing priorities and demands.
