2 First Annual Skilled Trades Innovation Forum About The Forum Close to 400 tradespeople, apprentices, employers, and training providers from across the province attended BC s first annual Skilled Trades Innovation Forum. It was a day to explore and share new ideas and best practices to develop innovative ways to strengthen our trades training system. The day s events shared a number of perspectives on trades training and apprenticeship. Career educators, industry, post-secondary, members of government and apprentices participated actively in breakout discussions providing input and sharing expertise and future visions. The ITA is working closely with the Ministry of Tourism and Skills Training and the Minister Responsible for Labour to create a new culture of innovation within BC s trades training and apprenticeship, ensuring that our province has the right people in the right place at the right time. While this must attend forum marked the beginning of discussions, the work will be continuous. Special thanks to all our sponsors! 2
