Pierre Marol: Since we started out in 1961, we have specialised in the design, manufacture and installation of handling equipment and automatic pallet storage systems. In the 1990s, we expanded into airport baggage handling and sorting systems. Today, our sales are evenly split between these two areas of automated storage systems and baggage handling systems. with the lowest operating costs. We achieve this with performance-based competitive tenders. We are also one of the few companies that have fully integrated software. This is a real strength since more and more of our customers are looking to contract out maintenance of an installation to its designer. We currently have long-term servicing agreements with Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Montreal and Moscow airports. These seem like two very similar activities P.M.: Yes, in terms of the technology that is used, especially the software. Although the two markets we serve work in very different ways. On the airport side of our business, our customers are public-sector entities or large civil engineering groups that hold competitive tenders with our rivals being global players. On the logistics side, we work with a variety of private businesses, especially in the agrifood industry. In this market, our rivals are local operators. How do you stand out from your competitors? P.M.: We are well known for our ability to deliver the right solution What are your development paths at present? P.M.: Our priority today is to manage our growth. We operate in extremely vibrant markets. The airport business is driven by the steady growth in air traffic and security issues that need to be addressed. The pallet business is benefiting positively from the major changes taking place in the retail sector. This is driven by the introduction of shopping pickup points, and the upturn in the fortunes of high-street stores. Both these trends make automated order preparation vital for our customers. To meet this demand, we are pursuing an active investment and recruitment policy. In the past 15 months, we have hired over 50 permanent staff.

4 So you plan to focus on organic growth rather than mergers and acquisitions? P.M. : We are most certainly devoting a great deal of time and effort to our organic development, but we remain on the look-out for possible strategic acquisitions.
