Shall also be adequately sized to fit adult users. Level CPSD-GB MTHD All Applicable by design Must sit level with no wobbling on a flat level surface. 6 General Construction ANSI Z / The general construction and assembly shall be of a neat and workmanlike character with parts well fitted and bolts or other fasteners drawn up tightly to give rigidity. Exposed edges with which the user may reasonably come in contact during normal use of adjustment of the appliance shall not be sharp. This includes bottoms of legs of portable outdoor cooking appliances that are in contact with the ground. Assembly ANSI Z / Every part of an appliance shall be secure against displacement and constructed to maintain a fixed relationship between essential parts under normal and, reasonable conditions of handling and usage. Parts not permanently secured shall be designed so they cannot be incorrectly assembled and cannot be improperly located when removed or replaced during cleaning or other Tools required ANSI Z / PERFORMANCE Estimation of BTU rating of propane burning device - input method servicing. 7 Surface coating CPSD-GB MTHD 1 Shall withstand use at maximum temperature and direct flame contact with no peeling, cracking, ignition, etc. Fill unit to its maximum capacity with fuel. Ignite the fuel. Allow the fire to burn until a steady flame is achieved. Adjust the flame, by adding or removing fuel, until the flame height is just below where the cover will be during normal use. Place cover on unit. After 5 minutes, add more fuel and ensure the coated surface is exposed to direct flame contact. Observe and report any effects on surface coating, both during flame contact and after cooling period. Hinges CPSD-GB MTHD 1 All hinges shall move smoothly 100 times consecutively. Grill cooking test - high setting CPSD-HL MTHD 1 When grill is at maximum temperature, place five hamburgers (1/2 in thick) on grill. Place one in center; the others approximately. 1 in from each corner (2.5 minutes per side). Each burger shall be seared on the outside, and moist inside. Loading test ANSI Z / Stability ANSI Z / The construction of the body of an appliance shall show no evidence of breakage, permanent damage or permanent deformation when subjected to the test load as determined in Table 9, Body Loading, uniformly applied over the top of the body for a period of 5 minutes. Any cover, hood or shelf located above the top of the body, top grates or broilers grid shall be removed during this test An appliance shall be constructed so it does not tip at an angle of 15 degrees (0.26 rad) when fitted with the vessel(s) provided by the manufacturer or specified by the manufacturer and deemed most critical with respect to center of gravity by the testing agency. This shall not apply to appliances which are provided with means, including necessary screws, bolts or both, and instructions for attaching them to the floor or mounting their bases in the ground. 8 Handle temperatures ANSI Z / Surface temperatures of the grasping area of handles and surface as described shall not exceed 54 F (30 ) above room temperature for metallic handles /90 F (50 C) above room temperature for nonmetallic handles when room temperature of below 90 F (50 C) And, shall not exceed 144 F (62 C) for metallic handles/180 F (82 C) for nonmetallic handles when room temperature of 90 F (50 C) or above: Impact ANSI Z / Effects of extreme temperature change Resistance to corrosion Handle(s) of access cover(s) or drawer(s) for the purpose of adding smoking chips for a smoker that exceed the above allowable temperature requirement shall bear a Class I marking as per section 1 On appliances equipped with a nonmetallic panel, the nonmetallic panel material shall withstand, without cracking or breaking, the impact when subjected to the referenced Method of test.
