After each dispatch or movement, the container is inspected to insure it still complies and if not, it is repaired so it can meet the requirements. We call it seaworthiness.

28 Instrument of Trade to instrument of Construction Conversion Criteria Any container used in construction must have the CSC certification plaque indicating it was manufactured to the international standard of the Rules of Standard Intermodal Containers Each container that is selected for conversion must be inspected using the established inspection criteria of the CSC for such items as watertightness, out of plane dents, structural damage, warping and material condition. A container can only continue to be used in the fleet if it passes this seaworthiness standard. Seaworthiness assures the container still meets the base strength and durability standards equivalent to a new unit. If seaworthy, regardless of age it can be used as a construction element.
