7 Joint Project AirShield ICT-Standardisation Aspects (2/2) ICT-Standardisation challenges regarding hardware/protocols for mobility of Low Altitude Platforms Similar to public cellular networks, a safe handover for Inter-Drone-Links (IDL) in a dynamic Mesh-Network must be provided for not breaking down transmission - Optimise routing of data packages regarding time variable network topologies - Prioritising of connections, as time critical sensor data have to be reliably transmitted to mission control in real time - As payload is critical (ca. 1kg), degradation of radio coverage can only compensated in part by augmenting transmitting power - Further restricting parameters are duration of flight, sensor capability, radio range ICT-Standardisation challenges regarding hardware/protocols for data security / integrity Encryption of communication links and secure access to publicly owned databases Authentication of UAVs in the Mesh-Network 7
8 Relevance of ICT-Standardisation is of particular relevance in UAV-Systems / SecTec, because of: 1. Product quality and reliability 2. Compatibility with existing hard-, software and procedures 3. Compatibility of multiple systems within UAV system (technology convergence) 4. User friendliness with respect to ergonomics and operational safety 5. Reliability of systems, also with regard to preservation of evidence 6. Conformity of legal requirements (accreditation / image / market access) 7. Enhancement of public and user acceptance 8. Cost efficiency of public procurement 8
