1 A STUDY ON TOURISUM DEVELOPMENT WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO TOURIST AT TIRUCHIRAPPALLI M ROBINSON 1 M VIJAYAKUMAR 2 1 Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, Anna University (BIT Campus), Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India 2 Final year PG student, Department of Management Studies, Anna University (BIT Campus), Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India ABSTRACT Tourism acting an essential role in promoting goodwill among the people and thereby fostering socio-economic enlargement of the country. Tourism industry helps to make vast foreign exchange reserves and make direct and indirect employment opportunities to a very large part of the society. Besides, encourage handicrafts and fine arts of a nation, it helps in preserving the nature s loveliness, cultural heritage of the land, tradition of soil and strengthens the procedure of nationwide addition and universal brotherhood. a specific study that carried out in Tiruchirappalli district in Tamilnadu state. A total of 250 customers were participated in this study from various tourist sports. Collected data was analyzed by using SPSS. The main objective of this study is to estimate the tourism and its impact on tourist development. Keywords: Tourist, Tourism development. INTRODUCTION Tourism plays a pivotal role in promoting goodwill in the middle of the people and thereby promotion socio-economic development of the country. Tourism as an industry helps to earn vast foreign exchange reserves and creates direct and not direct employment opportunities to a very huge section of the society. Besides, promoting handicrafts and fine arts of a nation, it helps in conserve the nature s beauty, cultural legacy of the land, tradition of soil and strengthens the process of national addition and universal brotherhood. It is necessary to make dissimilarity between different types of tourism for an analytical purpose. For instance, tourism is usually classified into two minor road group; international tourism and domestic tourism defined in terms of territorial boundary of the permanent dwelling of the tourist. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY 1. To study about respondent s opinion about hotels. 2. To study about respondent s opinion about transport and guide. 3. To analyze the relationship between preference of accommodation. 4. To analyze the relationship between types of rooms. REVIEW OF LITERATURE Richie and Sheridan (2002) have done significant research in Tourism Approach Research. Alternative Approaches to attitude measurement has been gracefully discussed by Gordon H.C.McDougall and Huge Munro. Since 1971 Conjoint Analysis has gained widespread acceptance as a technique for evaluation of customer trade-offs, a detailed account of this Research Technique in Tourism can be seen from John D.Claxton icmrrjournal@gmail.com
2 Graburn and Jafari (2001) state that no single discipline alone can accommodate treat or understand tourism; it can be studied only if disciplinary boundaries are crossed and if multidisciplinary perspectives are sought and formed. For example, Churchill adopted scientific method of tourism marketing. Gunn, Clare found out that simulation and modeling have useful approaches in out-door-recreation demand study. Tourism, whether international or domestic, as an industry is tailor-made for a country like India. The labor intensive environment of the industry is particularly appropriate to its labor surplus economy. India s rich cultural legacy and the wide panorama of its scenic beauty create an inexhaustible source of touristic attraction that cannot be exported or imported and therefore it is like any non traded good as the term is used in international literature. Yet, as an industry, tourism in India is even now relatively under studied. This is true, in spite of the fact that from time to time, both the government organizations have sponsored and national research institutes have conducted quite a few studies on tourism development. The study "Tourism Industry in India - A study of its Growth and its Developmental needs - undertaken by M. Selvam, has attempted to analyze the growth of tourism industry in India on the basis of tourist arrivals. The study has also analyzed the important tourist infrastructural facilities such as, tourist attraction, accommodation and transport. The role of tourist guides and travel agents in the promotion of tourism is discussed. MODEL BUILDING TOOLS FOR ANALYSIS This study was conducted from the period of February 2016 to May In this study, the descriptive research is carried out. A problem is described by the researcher using questionnaire and schedule. The methods of data collected are primary and secondary, primary data are fresh data collected through survey conducted to tourists using questionnaire. The secondary data are collected from internet source, books and various journals to get information regarding research problem icmrrjournal@gmail.com

The researcher made the following suggestions, which may either be adopted or modified, in the existing activities to develop the tourism stream and to generate the income and revenue of the government. 2. The improvement of the tourism industry the transport sector should be developed and must be given as first priority to bring changes in the hospitality industry to a larger extent. 3. During the festival time of the important temples, the transport facilities are to be additionally provided for the local, domestic as well as the foreign tourists according to the situation either from the places of accommodation or from the significant places of the city icmrrjournal@gmail.com
7 CONCLUSION To conclude, all these improvements and facilities are done and created, in order to bring a sea change in the tourism industry in general and specifically for Tiruchirapalli District in particular. For the effective development of the potentials in the tourism industry, government should formulate and design policies related to development of travel industry as well as travel education scenario in India. Today, there is an urgent need to carry out an extensive survey of the tourist resources of the state on scientific lines and their usage pattern. A common strategy is to be followed to give more tourism products with quality and quantity. The information collected through surveys should be thoroughly assessed and mapped so as to identify the potentialities of tourism resources of the state at the micro and macro level. Bibliography 1.
