1 January 2017 Rate Change Update Version Introduction This update loads the latest UPS, Purolator, and FedEx 2017 cost rates and service definitions. This update is primarily focused on these carrier rate changes, so other new changes are limited. Rate Change Effective Dates When Should I Load This Update? Carriers are implementing 2017 rates on different dates this year. Load the update now. Implement the new cost and retail rates now. Relax. The effective date of the 2017 rate change for UPS is Monday, December 26, 2016 The effective date of the 2017 rate change for FedEx /FedEx Ground is Monday, January 2, 2017 You will be given the option to load the cost rates at the same time, or on each effective date. We strongly recommend loading all the costs, calculating all the new retails, at the same time. Load the update with all the new costs all at once, and be done. Canada Post rates change later, on January 16, These are not included now, but will be provided to your store via a separate rate change update later in the month. Loading New Costs - Implement Now Or Later? As noted above, carriers are implementing 2017 changes on different effective dates. When the update runs, you will be given an option to defer loading the new cost rates. The default selection will be to load everything at once, to simplify the process of getting your Retail rates ready for This means that for a few days, your retail prices will result in slightly higher margins until the new 2017 costs become effective. If you prefer not to load the new actual cost rates yet, uncheck the checkboxes. If deferred, these new costs will be automatically loaded into your system when you start the program on the effective dates. You will be given a message to remind you to adjust Retail pricing at that time.

2 Compiling Changes Compiling Changes is now an automated process. Please click Yes whenever prompted. As noted earlier in this document, the calculation of new retail pricing IS NOT AUTOMATIC. Setting Your Retail Rates Accept Carrier Published Pricing When the update process finishes, you will see the following screen; This screen gives you the option whether to accept 2017 Carrier Published Rates If you wish to accept 2017 Carrier Published Rates, leave the dot on Replace With Carrier Published 2

3 If you wish to calculate your own pricing, move the dot to I Will Manage My Own Retail Rates for any or all carriers listed. Then follow the rate calculation steps shown in our Help system. Click HELP ReSource Help at any screen, then look at the video section for more information. THE PROCESS OF CALCULATING RETAIL PRICING FOR 2017 IS NOT AUTOMATIC MAKE A CHOICE THAT IS RIGHT FOR YOUR STORE AND THEN IMPLEMENT THOSE STEPS Setting Your Retail Rates Check Your Work When you have completed all rate calculation tasks outlined, please take a moment and test a few common shipments. Confirm these results meet your pricing goals for Minimum Retail Margin Option A feature introduced in 2011 with the 11.4 update is the ability to set a minimum retail markup/margin for your shipping rates. This feature protects your margins in rare cases where you fail to calculate a retail price for a particular service or zone. You should consider setting a value now for this feature as you calculate new retails for For more information, click HELP About, and search for Minimum Retail Margin Option in the Index. 4 Carrier Changes 2017 The following tables outline the changes made by the carriers for They are provided for your reference. Any service that has changed, or any new services, are shown in bold. Carrier Changes UPS UPS: All shipping Rates Changed An additional Handling surcharge will now apply when the longest side of a package is 48 inches or greater. Previously this applied when the longest side was 60 inches or longer. Effective 1/9/2017, for Standard service shipments to the US, the dimensional weight factor is change from 166 to 139. This means a change in dimensional weight from 10.4 lbs. per cubic foot to 12.4 lbs. per cubic foot.
