Since then the technological development and the huge resources assigned to research lead the company to study in detail the biggest technological advancement of that time: the INVERTER. After 25 years the investments in the modern technical department are still essential for the company resources. Every year STEL invests into research 10% of its turnover. Experiments with new technologies to realise more innovative and efficient products are continuous. DSP Among the new technological achievements of the last year is the use of DSP in the new versions of the MAX dp series, that allows the company to further strengthen its high technological level in the welding field. DSP means Digital Signal Processor and represents a new generation of microprocessors with programmable cells. Few data have the capacity to understand the performances of these components: - 40 million instructions each second (MIPS) - 80 megahertz frequency (M) Using the DSP Technology high welding performance is achievable, as well as a high level of product liability.

Unique to the Engineering World Another important achievement of the STEL Technical Department was the engineering of the new MAX 503 IP54 - ATX, specifically developed to guarantee high safety in the working environment. Special consideration has been given to the new safety standards required in many working environments where there is a high risk for the operator, such as in the mining industry, where starting from May 2006 new and sever norms were entered into force for welding machine. STEL has conformed to the new safety requirements to the high welding performances, resulting in developing a welding machine that is unique in today s engineering world - the new MAX 503 IP54 - ATX. The MAX 503 IP54 - ATX is an Inverter Welding Power Source that allows electrode welding up to 500A. By means of simple external connections a range of optional add-on processes are available: separate MIG/MAG wire feeder; DC Tig Box with HF ignition and pulse features; MIG/MAG and pulse. A real multi-process machine fabricated in a robust external casing manufactured from stainless steel in IP 54S Class. In recent years STEL has focused its efforts not only on technology but also on design image, creating a product series that continuous to catch the attention of the international market. The new MAX Series presented during the Exhibition in Essen has been a huge success with our international customers. With the brand new TIG and MIG Series entering into production in 2007, Stel are confident of meeting further demands on the international welding market. The MAX 503 IP54 - ATX is the only welding machine in the world to have passed the most rigorous tests to obtain the International Protection IP 54S Classification, which is the essential property for the use in the mining industry. (most other welding machines have a protection class IP 23) To understand the deep innovation achieved with this machine it is necessary to describe the protection IP 54S: - Significance of 5: Protect direct contact to controls from external wires: ( No penetration of external filter bore with a wire above a 1mm. Protection against dust: the quantity of dust penetrating does not interfere with the functions or prejudice the safety of the machine. - Significance of 4: Protection against water spray: (Water sprayed at the machine from all directions proved undamaging to the machines functions and securities). This short description underlines the extreme reliability and safety of the new MAX 503 IP54 - ATX, making it a product suitable for extreme hostile environments. Thanks to its modularity and multifunction combinations, the new MAX 503 IP54 - ATX is suitable for each type of welding process, at the same time giving maximum possible safety to the operator.

In the year 2005 a very important acquisition was finalised in the difficult and competitive Polish market. Thanks to the property of ZAS ASPA, the company STEL has now strengthened its position in the market as an international company and ZAS ASPA represents a very important step to enter into the East European market. This international strategy will allow the STEL group to reach the primary targets for its growth and at the same time will give impulse to a worldwide distribution of the innovative STEL products. Family Issues Quality, Technology and Competence are the foundations of the STEL philosophy. This philosophy led the company since the beginning, when Annamaria Mazzucco and Ermanno Barocco - to date still a very important reference in the company - started with their resolution and energy an interesting journey of growth and innovation. Stel srl is nowadays a leading company in the engineering and production of Inverter machines for welding and cutting. In the new modern administration and production headquarters set in the foothills of Castegnero on the outskirts of the city of Vicenza, tradition and technology are at the base of the modern production: mq technological surface - 50 competent empolyees - 20,000 welding and cutting machines produced each year - Export in 35 country in the world A young and dynamic company, Stel has established itself in the international market for its quality and reliability.
