3 Sheet 3 of 7 Radiography Procedure 1- Procedure To Be Used For: Examination of shop nozzle of fling welds on header with 3" & above 2- Radiation Source: Iridium 192-size 3x2mm. 3- Technique: Double wall exposure/ single wall viewing (or single image). A lead symbol "B", with min dimension of 1/2 in. in height & 1/16in. in thickness, shall be attached to the back of each film holder during each exposure to determine if backscatter radiation is exposing the film. Source-weld-film arrangement shall be indicated as per ASME sec. V. 4- Equipment: Gamma-ray apparatus (Gamma mat. TIF) with remote control. 5- Film Type: Radiographic film shall be fine grain, high definition, high contrast film. Agfa gevaert D7 or equivalent, strip type, 100 mm width. 6- Intensifying Screen: Back & front lead screens, 0.13mm thick, fluorescent intensifying screen shall not be used. Prepakcad films are used. 7- Exposure Condition: Depending on diameter wall thickness. Minimum source to film distance shall be 200mm. For using of radioactive isotopes the recommendation of ASME sec. V article 2, part T shall be considered the UG requirement shall be met of SEC V. 8- Number Of Exposure: Minimum 3. Exposure takan 120 deg. To each other shall be made. 9- Over Lap: 50mm on each side film. 10- Penetrameter: One, wire type according to DIN penetrameter shall be seat at the end of film location. The penetrameter shall be placed on the welds (on film side) so that wire is perpendicular to the welds. 11- Sensitivity: 2% or less.
4 Sheet 4 of Film Density: The calibration of densitometer is considered valid as long as the unit is not switched off during a series of measurement. (according to ASME Sec. V Article II-Part-T-292.) & shall be limited to viewer capacity 2 to Film Procession: - Type Manual. - Developing bath: Agfa gevaert G 127 or equivalent. Developing temperature around 20 c (approximately 5 minutes). - Fixing bath Agfa gevaert G 335 or equivalent. Fixing time 10 minutes (approximately 20 c). - Washing: In running water + welting agent. - Drying: Using suitable drier. - Viewing: Light intensity adjustable viewer suitable to view 1.8 to Identification and Marking of Radiographs: Each film shall be identified as per following items to avoid any confusion and mismatching in the reports and relevant films. Project identifier manufacture name 1- Header No. 2- Joint No. 3- Welder Stamp 4- Weld Thick 5- Location Mark 6- Date of Shooting 7- XR No. 15- Acceptance Criteria: For acceptance interpretation of weld the requirements of ASME sec. VIII Div.1. Appendix 4:4-3 shall be followed. (Attachment No. 2 as criteria summary). 16- Examination Report: Attached form will be used to record examination results. 17- Personnel Qualification: - Level I: to carry out radiographs. - Level II: to evaluate radiographic examination results. Personnel shall qualified/ certified in accordance to SNT-TC-1A of American society for non destructive testing. These personnel will be independently qualified copied of qualifications will be made available at clients request. General Note: All welded joint shall be visually inspected before commencement of any NON-destructive examination.
