4 Introduction Welders for socket fusion welding are used for joining of pipes and fittings of mm in diameter made from thermoplastic materials (usually PP, PE, PB or PVDF) intended primarily for internal distribution of water or for heating. The welders can be delivered either individually in the SOLO version (in a cardboard box) or with adaptors and accessories in the MINI or PROFI versions (in practical sheet metal cases). The advantage of the PROFI cases is that it is possible to place the welder and the adaptors in it while they are still hot. Another advantage of the PROFI case is a special partition wall for the cable storage. POLYS P-4 The hand welders are intended for professionals because they include exact electronic control and an original acoustic weld guide, TraceWeld (depending on type). The most interesting advantage is their possible continuous operation even under demanding conditions. The best selling group, the rod welders with power demand of 650W, allow operation in very confined spaces and a possibility of attaching up to three adaptors at once. For those preferring traditional welders, we can offer the knife version with the option of attaching two adaptors at once. For welding of big diameters of up to 125 mm we offer the 1200W plate welder. POLYS P-1 The welders equipped with thermostatic control are intended mainly for occasional operations, i.e. as an add-on to the P-4 line or for handymen. The heaters are either of the rod or knife designs. The extra feature of these welding machines is the rod angle design P-1b that allows working in confined spaces when working around the corner. MP 110 Sturdy professional equipment is intended for socket fusion welding of pipes and fittings up to 110 mm in diameter. The set includes all the necessary accessories stored in a practical case. The reduction inserts for the STABI pipes can be ordered optionally. The equipment is manufactured in a more compact and lighter version for workshop operation or in a field version with weld protection against impurities, which includes support of the pipes being welded to ensure correct weld alignment. MP 75 Light welding fixture is controlled using a lever where the continuously adjustable clamping jaws permit fixed clamping and welding of fittings and pipes of mm diameters. The low weight of this equipment is an advantage and it can be further reduced by removing the clamping jaw and therefore this equipment provides best results for hard to reach welds, e.g. under a ceiling. ST 160 This is a unique mechanical equipment which allows performing of both socket fusion welding up to diameter of 110 mm and butt welding up to diameter of 160 mm. The supplied universal clamp provides exact fixation of any fitting during socket fusion welding. Another plus of this equipment is the mobile stainless steel bench suited for easy manipulation of the equipment. This equipment can be used for welding of water pipings and sewer pipes. After placing the fitting and the pipe in the adaptor, just press a push button and make the weld according to the acoustic signals without the necessity to monitor time. 14 Introduction The welding equipment for butt welding of pipes is intended for connection of pipes of dimensions of mm made from thermoplastic materials (mostly PE) and is used especially for outdoor water and gas pipelines. We provide equipment with both hydraulic and mechanical pressure. For hydraulic equipment, pressure is defined precisely and the equipment is used for welding of water and gas pipelines. The mechanical equipment is used for welding of water pipelines and sewer pipes. STH The hydraulic welding equipment allows welding of pipes of diameters of mm. It is produced in six designs (160, 250, 315, 500, 630, and 900). The welding machines are equipped with a welding mirror and an electric trimmer. The equipment can be combined with three types of hydraulic hydraulic units (TraceWeld Plus, TraceWeld and classic). Hydraulic equipment is intended for defined welding of pressure pipes for water and gas distribution. Hydraulic Unit The hydraulic unit generates the required pressure for STH units and ensures exact and easy control. It may be equipped with either a mechanical or a digital manometer. The digital manometer is equipped with the TraceWeld system that guides the operator through the welding process. It may be programmed and equipped with a protocol device permitting the processing of all parameters on a computer with the option of subsequent printing of protocols, providing complete record of the finished welds (TraceWeld Plus version). 18 Welding Equipment with Hydraulic Pressure STH TraceWeld In order to simplify the work during welding we have developed TraceWeld which is an original system of welding process tracing. It minimizes operator s errors and speeds up the work with the welding machine as the operator has nothing to count, nothing to remember and no timing device is required, e.g. stop-watch, watches, etc.! The control lies only in entering the time for heating, pipe fixing and cooling. When the pre-determined time elapses, the device informs the operator by audio signal of the next steps. In the pre-programmed version TraceWeld Plus, only the material, pipe dimension and pipe thickness are to be entered. 22 Introduction During the development of the electrofusion welding machines, SVEL 2000 and 950, our priority in their design was easy and safe operation as well as safe storage and fixing of the cables. The whole process is fully automatic and the welding is blocked if no electro-fitting is connected. The electrofusion welding machines will find their use as an alternative in the welding of pipelines made from thermoplastics. The SVEL 2000 line is used for welding pipes (mostly from PE), e.g. for outdoor water and gas distribution. SVEL 950 is intended as an alternative to socket fusion welding for making, for example, the last weld in an inaccessible place or for repairs of polypropylene pipelines. 26 Introduction Two types of welding are used for connecting of plates and foils. The first one is welding by adding extra material. Representatives of this technology are the extruder ES 4, intended for welding of roof foils, and the universal extruder ES 2, which can weld a wide thickness range of plastic plates and foils. The second type is welding of foils using hot wedge. Representative of this technology is the wedge welding machine SKA, which can be used for welding of hydro insulating foils intended for ground insulation on construction sites, dump disposal sites, man made water reservoirs, etc. In our continuous efforts to improve the quality and definition of the process of these technologies, we now record all data available in the machine s internal memory with subsequent possibility of printing the weld protocol or downloading it to a PC.
