2 The Solution A new NMP-free Polyimide Varnish coating material has been developed enabling high heat resistance formulation, easier handling with room temperature storage and can be customized to your application and process! It allows the combination of high heat resistance, electrical insulation and chemical resistance with easy processing to develop protective coatings. An exclusive grade has also been developed for waterborne system with over 85% VOC reduction! This new polyimide is a solution of polyimide precursor-polyamic acid. It is coated on substrate and heated up at high temperature to vaporize solvent, accelerate imidization reaction and make non-soluble, non-melting film coating having superior heat resistance, chemical resistance and electric insulation. Get superior heat resistance Grade A: High heat resistance type Grade S: Superior heat resistance type Polyimide film fabricated from this new resin has high thermal decomposition temperature and no melting point. Grade S particularly has over 550 C of thermal decomposition temperature, so it does not soften, fluidize and decompose. The operating temperature is at 300 C thanks to this new material compared to 200 C with standard PI. Furthermore, this new material available as resin or coating with different grades is very stable with low weight change and thickness change rate up to 350 C heat-treatment condition. 2

3 Get easier processing & handling These polyimide grades are easy to process as they only require polymerization by simple heating to get polyimide. These new improved polyimide grades are also easier to handle as they can be stored at room temperature which means that no freezing is required after processing! Get a waterborne system and meet severe regulations The newly developed waterborne polyimide precursor allows 85% reduction of VOC versus solvent based solution and is very stable with <30 C of varnish stability preservation condition and easy to process (with possibility of low temperature curing). The waterborne system is NMP-free and allows overcoming REACH conformity and registration. Get electrical resistance for effective insulation This improved PI has a superior electrical insulation in order to provide an effective insulation to the coating: 3

4 Get improved chemical resistance Polyimide film has excellent resistance to metallic salt solution acid and alkali with high strength retention rate like: 99% in Xylene 95% in Methylenechloride 92% in Methylethylketone 88% in Chloroform All data proving chemical resistance are listed below: Furthermore, the breaking energy of the new polyimide grades is high with a high maintenance rate which are about the same between the standard grade and the NMP-free grade. 4
