2 City of Forney The City Without Limits Forney is the fastest-growing community in Kaufman County and the 10th fastestgrowing community in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Our community is not defined by boundaries on a map but by a sense of shared values. Our 127- acre community park boasts multiple sporting fields, playgrounds, trails and the 5,000 seat Spellman Amphitheater. Little league and select sports teams regularly use Forney athletic complexes for their practices and games, while the splash pad, playground and walking trail are all used for family fun and play. The park hosts several events throughout the year including Forney BBQ Cook-off & Festival, Summer Movies & Music in the Park, Independence Day Celebration, Trail of Treats, Veterans Day Ceremony, Turkey Trax Auto Show, Christmas in the Park and Forney on Ice.

3 BBQ COOK-OFF Overview Returning for its third year is the Forney BBQ Cook-off & Festival at Forney Community Park, 241 South F.M. 548, on June 1 st and 2 nd. The BBQ Cook-off will be newly sanctioned by International Barbecue Cookers Association (IBCA) but will again benefit the Forney Food Pantry and Sharing the Love Foundation. This year s event will encompass a weekend full of events, including vendors, live demonstrations, games, crafts, rides, local and regional acts, and headliner entertainer Jack Ingram. While some of the details are still in the works, this year s event is estimated to draw thousands in attendance from not only Forney but all over the state of Texas. 3

4 Key Features Giving Back In 2017 Forney BBQ Cook-off & Festival donated over $ to Forney Food Pantry and Sharing the Love Foundation and gave over 60 lbs of cooked meat to the Genesis Center. This year a minimum of $25.00 of every team registration and half of every People s Choice ticket price go back to our event benefactors. The more sponsorship dollars we raise, the more funds we can donate. BBQ Cook-Off This year s BBQ Cook-off is sanctioned by the International Barbecue Cookers Association (IBCA). The cost to participate is $ for one or all meats and $20.00 for any of our jackpot categories. Over $ will be awarded to our top 5 winners in each category and our Reserve Grand Champion and Grand Champion. Music Entertainment This year s line-up will include not only a range of local and regional talent but also the Texas favorite, Jack Ingram. Local and regional talent will be showcased throughout both Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, with Jack Ingram lighting up the Spellman Amphitheater at 9:00pm on Saturday evening. Games, Rides and Crafts The City of Forney will again partner with local non-profits and businesses to bring event components that are fun for the whole family. Returning this year will be field style games, crafts and the pie eating contest while new additions include a Mechanical Bull and Pony Rides. New family friendly elements are added every day. 4

5 Marketing Reach An aggressive marketing campaign is planned for the 3 rd BBQ Cook-off & Festival. The BBQ Cook-off will be heavily marketed for approximately 6 weeks, 4 weeks prior to the event and 2 weeks after, within a 30-mile radius of Forney, TX. Digital Media The City of Forney website is an important vehicle of communication for news, program updates, sponsorship information and links. Online media outlets such as inforney.com, the Guide Live and the Dallas Observer will also be used to market the BBQ Cook-off. Social Media The City of Forney and Forney Parks & Events Facebook pages enjoy over 10,000 followers combined, providing an effective platform to convey sponsor s logos and messages. The City of Forney is actively engaged in advertising and marketing via social media. Radio A number of local and DFW radio stations will be used to advertise the event, give away free tickets and conduct interviews with event organizers. Print Media Local and Regional publications will be used to market the event, including both visual ads and articles. Event posters and flyers are printed and distributed throughout Forney, TX. Newsletters The BBQ Cook-off will be included in City of Forney printed newsletters and Forney ISD, local HOA s, and church digital newsletters. 5

7 In-Kind Benefits In-Kind sponsors will be provided sponsorship benefits on a case-by-case basis. In-kind donations can be combined with a monetary donation to increase your benefits. These are only a few of the many in-kind sponsorships available. Welcome Buckets Prizes Each BBQ Team will receive a welcome bucket. Forney Business may promote their business by providing promotional material and a small welcome gift. We ask that you provide more then just a business card but include something that the Teams can take home with them or shows a unique part of Forney. The City of Forney gives out a number of prizes to the winning BBQ Teams, including but not limited to Cash, trophies, certificates, and special one time prizes to the Grand and Reserve Grand Champions and 1 st place winners in each category. Monetary, material or service sponsorships are available. Food & Drink There is a number of City of Forney Staff members and community volunteers that are on site all day Friday and Saturday, June 2 nd and 3 rd. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner is needed for theses 40+ people. We ask that a business sponsor at least one full meal, including drinks, plates and silverware. Musical Entertainment Volunteers There are several musical acts that play at our event. Those wishing to sponsor one should contact us directly. Special benefits exist for musical act sponsors. There are opportunities for bands or solo acts to get exposure to thousands and increase merchandise sales at our event. Afternoon slots are reserved for local acts wanting to get said exposure. Any wishing to participate should or mail a copy of their press kit to be considered. Organizations and Non-profits wanting to get involved or in need of service hours are encouraged to contact us directly. Opportunities exist to host games, field day activities, or arts and crafts, and to help with set-up, load-in or teardown. 7
