1 training & professional development The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) Thank you for considering Carson Australasia for your Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification (TAE40110). The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is fast becoming a prerequisite for every individual involved in any form of work based training or assessment. Employers wanting an industry edge are recognising the benefits of having people with this qualification in their workforce to ensure high quality, customised training for their staff. For individual s achieving this nationally recognised qualification, it could open the door to a number of professional careers in addition to that of a workplace training or assessor. Careers such as teaching or tutoring for TAFE, Private Training Organisations or Universities are often attained with this qualification. This qualification also: Can provide credits towards other recognised qualifications. There are ten units of competency necessary to gain this qualification, both core and elective (core and elective units indicated). The units in our course are: TAEDES401A Design and develop learning programs - Core TAEDES402A Use training packages and accredited courses to meet client needs - Core TAEDEL401A Plan, organise and deliver group-based learning - Core TAEDEL402A Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace - Core TAEASS401B Plan assessment activities and processes - Core TAEASS402B Assess competence - Core TAEASS403B Participate in assessment validation - Core TAELLN401A Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills - Elective TAEDEL301A Provide work skill instruction - Elective BSBCMM401A Make a presentation - Elective. Carson Australasia has designed a 6 day interactive, stimulating and enjoyable training program. Please note the program is complete with the submission of a post-course project which participants will start working on during the course. Participants will then take home the files for their partly completed project, along with many templates we provide to assist in completing the project. Full coaching support is available to participants in completing the project. 1
2 Please see the list of units below indicating which are incomplete until submission of the post-course project. If the project remains incomplete we will issue a SOA (Statement of Attainment) for those units completed during the face-to-face component of the course. All participants will be provided with alternative options to complete the project if needed and we will provide you with as much flexibility as possible to ensure you gain the full qualification. The project encompasses the design, development and delivery of an accredited workplace training to cover at least one unit of competence for a target group and provide work-based facilitation for at least one participant and trial an assessment instrument Post-course Project This project holistically addresses those units noted above in the SOA mapping. Participants are required to research, design and write a learning program to cover at least one unit of competence or accredited module. For participants already delivering enterprise accredited modules we will discuss the opportunity to align the project to your organisational requirements The program must be written to cover the entire unit of competence; however the delivery of a minimum of two consecutive sessions within a workplace or simulated environment (with each session at least minutes) The project also requires two work-based facilitation programs (with two individuals) to be undertaken. Participants are expected to document how they have ensured the development of competence through the activities (or opportunities for practice) that will meet several (clusters) or separate performance criteria from the unit of competence Project materials must be in the form of print-based learning resources (however hand written materials may be accepted). Video/audio recordings and/or other media are welcome as an alternative submission (please speak to us prior to submitting your materials). Participants will have 8 weeks to complete the post-course project. All project documentation is expected to be submitted electronically. During the face-to-face course participants will complete part of the post-course project with the remainder expected to demonstrate the transfer of learned outcomes. 2
3 RPL/RCC As a Registered Training Organisation we are able to offer opportunities for recognition for current competencies (RCC) and recognition for prior learning (RPL) in the areas for which we have scope of registration. RCC is the process used to recognise current competencies regardless of how when or where the learning occurred. Competencies may be attained in a number of ways including through any combination of formal or informal learning and education, work experience or general life experience. Evidence to support competency may take a variety of forms and could include certification, references from past employers, testimonials from clients and work samples. In this process all forms of portfolio or other documentation provided for RPL will be assessed against the rules of evidence to ensure it is valid, reliable, current and sufficient. This process will be facilitated by our RPL guide which provides a detailed list of the types of evidence that would be suitable against each of the units. Participants may provide a range of evidence to satisfy the requirements for the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and as such, may briefly constitute: Formal or informal education and training Experiences in the workplace General life experience, and/or Any combination of the above. Applications for RPL will be discussed with each applicant on an individual basis. Pathways The core units from TAA40104 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (and therefore the TAE40110) form the prerequisite requirements for TAA50104 the Diploma of Training & Assessment. Vocationally, this training and assessment qualification will be highly sought after by Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and private and government organisations where training and assessment is deemed an essential part of their business. It is also particularly suited to people who: Are seeking employment as trainers/assessors with a Registered Training Organisation Are experienced RTO trainers and assessors who are seeking to upgrade their qualifications Are experienced industry based trainers and assessors who are seeking to upgrade their qualifications Are career minded individuals who are aiming to improve career prospects Are focused on a long-term career in training and assessment and want to have a competitive edge against other trainers and assessors.
