New in this Release System Requirements Product Inventory Installation Resolved Issues About Quest Software New in this Release The Foglight for SAP NetWeaver v2.5 Cartridge is a full release providing: support for SAP NetWeaver 2004s with Unicode or Non-Unicode installation (see Prerequisites for SAP NetWeaver 2004s) capability to monitor aborted (cancelled) and long running background jobs additional detail information for work processes and special users Further details for these changes are included in the Resolved Issues section. The Foglight for SAP NetWeaver v2.5 Cartridge utilizes a lightweight agent that provides real-time monitoring of all layers of an enterprise application (systems, networks, and application server) and captures pertinent infrastructure application usage, service, and availability level data that is used to continually assess the state of all components within an R/3 System. Using this collected data, Foglight Management Server provides a multi-dimensional view of R/3 resource utilization for capacity planning, problem determination, and trend analysis both real-time and historically. The Foglight for SAP NetWeaver v2.5 Cartridge will support Foglight Management Server v4.1.1a, v4.1.2, v4.2.1a and v This is a complete package as opposed to a patch. Review all sections of this document, including the Installation section, and the Foglight for SAP NetWeaver v2.5 Cartridge User Guide before starting your installation process. Note Currently there is no upgrade path from the Foglight for SAP NetWeaver v2.0 Cartridge to the new Foglight for SAP NetWeaver v2.5 Cartridge. Please contact Quest Support for a proper upgrade path. System Requirements Software Requirements Before installing the Foglight for SAP NetWeaver v2.5 Cartridge, you must meet the following requirements: Installation of the Foglight Management Server v4.1.1a or v4.1.2 Installation of the Foglight Management Server v4.2.1a or v

2 Hardware Requirements For the hardware requirements for the Foglight for SAP NetWeaver v2.5 Cartridge, refer to Supported Platforms. Refer to the Foglight Management Server v4.1 Installation Guide and Foglight Management Server v4.2 Installation Guide for the Foglight Management Server hardware requirements. Supported Platforms The operating system platforms and SAP versions supported by the Foglight for SAP NetWeaver v2.5 Cartridge are: Operating System SAP R/3 Windows 2000, 2003 (32-bit (x86), 64-bit (x64)) SAP NetWeaver 2004s, SAP NetWeaver 2004, SAP R/ Sun Solaris 5.8, 5.9 SAP NetWeaver 2004, SAP R/ HP-UX 11, 11i SAP NetWeaver 2004, SAP R/ AIX 5.1, 5.2, 5.3 SAP NetWeaver 2004, SAP R/ Prerequisites for SAP NetWeaver 2004s The SAP_BASIS component for release 700 (2004s) must be at level 0009 (SAPKB70009 support package) or later to allow the User tables, Workload tables and DB_Load tables to collect data for an SAP NetWeaver 2004s application server. The password for the user defined in the SAPServer agent ASPs must be created with no more or less than 7 alphanumeric uppercase characters (i.e., FGLSAP1/FGLSAP1) to allow the agent to connect to the SAP R/3 application server for a SAP NetWeaver 2004s environment. Global Operation Statement This section contains information about installing and operating this product in non-english configurations, such as those needed by customers outside of North America. This section does not replace the materials about supported platforms and configurations found elsewhere in the product documentation. This release supports any single-byte character set. Double-byte or multi-byte character sets are not supported. In this release, all product components should be configured to use the same or compatible character encodings and should be installed to use the same locale and regional options. This release is targeted to support operations in the following regions: North America, Western Europe and Latin America. 3 Product Inventory The product inventory associated with the Foglight for SAP NetWeaver v2.5 Cartridge includes the following: SAPNetWeaver25_ReleaseNotes_FGL41x_42x.pdf (this document) One Package for Foglight Management Server v4.1.1a or v4.1.2: SAP_V411_U_061117p.sh (UNIX Foglight Management Server) Two Packages for Foglight Management Server v4.2.1a or v4.2.2: SAP_V421_W_061117p.exe (Windows Foglight Management Server) SAP_V421_U_061117p.sh (UNIX Foglight Management Server) These packages contains the following: Related agent binaries and libraries for the supported platforms (see Supported Platforms) DCMs (Data Collection Modules, or Agent templates) Installation Verify that your system meets the minimum hardware and software requirements before attempting to install and run the Foglight for SAP NetWeaver v2.5 Cartridge. Note Before beginning the installation process you must install, or have already installed the Foglight Management Server v4.1.1a, v4.1.2, v4.2.1a or v General Installation Information Foglight Management Server v4.1.1a, v4.1.2, v4.2.1a or v4.2.2 must be installed on the server prior to installing the Foglight for SAP NetWeaver 2.5 Cartridge. For more information see the Foglight Management Server Release Notes for the applicable release. The installation process is common for all Foglight agent cartridges, and is described in the Foglight Management Server Installation Guide delivered with Foglight Management Server v4.1 or v4.2. Additional Installation Instructions SAP User Creation The SAP user needs to be created, for example, user FGLSAP1. The purpose of this user is to gather the performance data from the monitored SAP application server. The SAP transaction used for user creation is SU01. The user needs to be marked as Dialog User in folder Logon data. After the initial password is reset to permanent, one of the user types can be switched into CPIC (or System) user. This user information, login and permanent password, will be used in Foglight Management Server ASP parameters. Creating and Assigning SAP Authorization Profile The FOGLIGHT SAP user needs to have correct SAP authorization objects in its profile; otherwise, not all the monitoring information from the SAP system is collected

4 The SAP transaction used for activity group creation is Profile Generator. Create an Activity Group, for example ZQUEST_FOGLIGHT. Then, in the Authorization folder, manually insert (Edit Insert Authorization Manual Input) the authorization object indicated below. Fill the authorization fields as indicated. Save and activate the profile. Assign this profile to SAP user FGLSAP1, and complete the compare. Finally, save the activity group. The following Authorization objects should be included in the active profile: S_RFC S_XMI_LOG S_XMI_PROD S_ADMI_FCD The fields in the Authorization object must be filled as follows: S_RFC: Cross-application Authorization Objects Auth. check for RFC access Activity: Execute Name of RFC to be protected: * Type of RFC object to be protected: * S_XMI_LOG: Basis: Administration Internal access authorization for XMI log Access method for XMI log: * S_XMI_PROD: Authorization for External Management Interfaces (XMI) XMI logging: Company name of e * XMI logging: Program name of e * Interface ID: * S_ADMI_FCD: System Authorizations System Administration Function: Analyze Traces (ST0R) Resolved Issues The following CRs are addressed in the Foglight for SAP NetWeaver v2.5 Cartridge: CR Issue: Support for NetWeaver 2004s - Unicode and Non-Unicode Resolution: Foglight for SAP NetWeaver v2.5 Cartridge now supports NetWeaver 2004s. CR Issue: Monitor background aborted jobs and background long running jobs - 4 -

5 Resolution: Added the SAPR3_Background_Aborted _Jobs and SAPR3_Background_Long_Running_Jobs tables. The SAPR3_Background_Aborted _Jobs table collects data based on background jobs that have Aborted (Cancelled) within the last collection interval. The SAPR3_Background_Long_Running_Jobs table collects data based on background jobs that have been Active for a specified amount of time. Out of the box, the long running background job threshold has been set for 30 minutes. This time is configurable from the SAP Parameters ASP tab. Associated rules and views also exist for these tables. CR Issue: Update worker process information Resolution: Added the Process_ID field for each Process Type in the SAPR3_Process_CPU table. CR Issue: Update user information table Resolution: Added detail information about the special user identified in the ASPs to the SAPR3_Special_Users table. Also created a SAPServer_Special_Users_Detail tabular view. Known Issues No known issues for the Foglight for SAP NetWeaver v2.5 Cartridge. Documentation Additions The online help has been updated to include documentation of the functionality for the Foglight for SAP NetWeaver v2.5 Cartridge.
