This is reflected in four Core Values; Integrity, Client Focus, Collaboration and Sustainability. To articulate what these mean, Arcadis developed the Arcadis General Business Principles ("AGBP") which can be found on the Arcadis website. Arcadis considers it essential that all employees understand and comply with the AGBP as the AGBP reflect the company we want to be and thus they foster our collective responsibility towards society. Every two years, Arcadis employees complete mandatory online compliance training aimed at increasing awareness of Arcadis principles and values. Our people We are committed to promoting health and safety within the workplace and start every large meeting with a health and safety moment. Arcadis encourages flexible working and actively encourage employees to achieve an optimum work life balance. Our supply chain Our business takes the necessary steps to prevent slavery or human trafficking taking place within our organisation and our supply chain/ Where we partner with other Consulting firms, or subject experts, we look to promote sustainable, ethical ways of working. Diversity and inclusiveness Creating a diverse and inclusive culture is a business priority for Arcadis. A diverse and skilled workforce is essential to our success. Arcadis has an active Diversity and Inclusion Committee that actively works to ensure that Arcadis employees respects difference and creates a culture that embraces what each person brings to the table. Sustainability The most significant environmental impact of our work is in projects for clients, many of which have a direct positive impact. We aim to proactively provide sustainable alternatives to projects for clients and may decline work that does not include adequate measures to evaluate environmental issues or mitigate adverse effects. Through our Global Sustainability Program, we aim to reduce the environmental impact of our own operations through global policies in the following focus areas: Transportation, ground and air Energy and water usage in our offices Paper usage and type Waste reduction and disposal or recycling Selection of purchased materials and products Sustainable urbanization is the main area for our groupwide community involvement strategies, since we are well positioned to address this challenge with our expertise in the fields of infrastructure, water, environment, buildings and urban planning. We have a global partnership with UN-Habitat, the United Nations agency for human settlements, which is called the Shelter program. Shelter allows us to dedicate time, expertise and money to many local community involvement initiatives. We believe that, by working together, diverse people with different experiences develop the most innovative ideas. We always strive to improve the value we can deliver to our clients Client needs The strategy for our Business Advisory unit is to be the business advisors of choice for natural and built asset clients, generating sustainable growth and lasting outcomes. We are committed to running projects that leave a lasting positive impact on the client organisation. We aim to be a reliable partner for our clients as they pursue their valid business goals and will carry out our services with professional integrity, while not jeopardizing the interests of society, employees and shareholders. We begin each commission with a clearly defined contract which sets out the parameters of the engagement and the requirements, or outputs, expected from Arcadis. This is then built upon with a Project Charter which clearly identifies the objectives, deliverables, stakeholders, risks, roles and responsibilities, and processes. We always offer services under terms that do not compromise our independent professional judgment and with the intention of creating optimal value for our clients. As well as a mutually agreed scope of services and deliverables, we provide clients with weekly flash reports which contain the details on the progress of work and ownership of the key next steps. We use the Executive Steering Committee on all consulting assignments. This Committee holds regular meetings with the representative client team to ensure clear and transparent progress to the client and enable the joint resolution of outstanding issues and removal of barriers to progress. Conflicts of interest Should a conflict of interest arise throughout our engagement with the client, we are transparent with them and communicate this quickly. Consistent with contractual obligations, we maintain the confidentiality of information from the client that is obtained in the process of performing our services. We also keep confidential the documents and reports prepared for a client unless otherwise agreed. Skills and knowledge We employ people with the right skills and experience to help the client and continually look to develop their expertise. Within the Business Advisory team, we employ individuals with a combination of proven and recognized management consulting backgrounds, as well as those with relevant industry experience. The three-step interview process that we deploy ensures that we select the right candidates. The process ensures a Values fit with the ethos of our team and ways of working with the client, a Content fit with the nature of the client assignment that we deliver and the ability to show thought leadership within their specialist area and a Trajectory fit that the individual demonstrates the personal qualities and drive to succeed within our firm In every project we seek to identify and produce best practice. The evolution of the benefits management capability as an industry leading capability, developed whilst working on some of the biggest infrastructure projects that the country has ever seen, is one such example. Our Strategic Research & Insight team offers support to the Business Advisory sector and draws upon extensive knowledge to provide: Market focused thought leadership Strategic evidence based insight Value proposition development Market entry insight Bid support Methodology support Cost data evidence and insight Economic analysis As a business, Arcadis strives to be a knowledge based organisation by harnessing internal insight, experience and expertise with wider market knowledge. An atmosphere of good employee communication, involvement and responsibility is of central importance, and an employee s personal development and optimum use of talents is encouraged. We operate a flexible way of working to allow for a healthy work-life balance and to ensure that commitments outside of the work place are not put under too much stress. Formal training and on-the-job coaching Arcadis is committed to constantly developing our consultants through a combination of formal training around core consulting skills, on-the-job coaching and regular knowledge shares within specific communities. We have specific training courses for both inexperienced consultants covering core skills, as well as courses for more senior consultants. Internal training forms a key element of the Arcadis Business Advisory strategy and we are constantly looking to improve our in-house training capability, such that we can offer the very best in service to our clients. The Business Advisory Academy will become a key enabler for our commercial performance over the next few years. The objective is to evolve and develop the next generation of Arcadians who will create, innovate, develop and lead new propositions and high standards of service delivery. We are constantly looking to foster and embed a continuous learning culture. The performance of all consultants is reviewed during each commission and in yearly PDP reviews. Investing in the future Our Analyst Development Academy (ADA) is committed to ensuring that our Analyst community can provide industry leading service to our clients. As part of the ADA, young consultants have the opportunity to attend a number of learning sessions, covering a range of topics aiming to equip our young colleagues with the skills and tools they need to succeed in their careers We also make use of internal knowledge management systems to capture and share knowledge from across our sectors and service lines. Global Shapers The Global Shapers Program provides 100 young professionals the opportunity to improve Arcadis, create more international connections and share knowledge. Global Shapers is an annual program, which was launched for the first time in The program is about learning through working together in an international group, in a virtual and face-to-face phase. By creating international connections, facilitating and improving knowledge sharing and making sure the challenge is taken back home, a ripple effect is created. Performance development The Team Leader Community is a forum for team leaders to meet, share observations, discuss concerns and collaborate to find the best path for the development of our people. Team Leaders are drawn from the wider Business Advisory community they are a mix of commission leaders, subject matter experts, proposition owners and experienced consultants and come from a wide range of grades. The forum allows for a group-think approach, drawing on the experiences of all team leaders to bring insights and solutions to the table, finding the best approaches to address challenges and identify opportunities for the development of consultants. The team is headed by Ana Barreto, Consulting Excellence Champion for Arcadis.
