33 Related Specifications The Quality Requirements specification should note the following under Part 1 under the Related Documents: Division 03 through 14 Sections for building envelope work required in each Section Also, each section should specify that the installer be present and participate in the pre-construction and preinstallation meetings.
34 Reducing RFI s Experience has shown us that when preconstruction meetings conducted on projects, a reduction in RFI s is realized.
35 Completeness of Submittals Completeness of the building enclosure in the submittal process by requiring the preconstruction meeting occur prior to submittal of product data sheets and shop drawings. If you do not specify it, it will not happen!

51 Why should architects care? This process will minimize their risks and it will allow the opportunity to discuss details that may no have been included in the construction drawings. If you specify it, make sure it happens!

60 Subcontractor s Role The subcontractor is the trade expert providing the labor to perform the work and provide the installation warranty. Typically the contractors are certified by the manufacturers as a qualified installer. When certified as specialist in the trade, they understand the requirements of the manufacturer for installation and means of construction which are acceptable by their selected manufacturer. As the trade specialist, they should take ownership of the installation and offer feedback to the contractor on scheduling, compatibility, and construction requirements.
