15 Aalto University Industrial Internet Campus Research environment opening ceremony In spring 2016 Konecranes and Aalto University agreed on cooperation around research and education in industrial internet. The smart crane donated by Konecranes arrived in Otaniemi in November and is now ready to be hacked by researchers and students. The crane s open interfaces and its digital twin create a novel innovation environment. The crane s control system and smart components are connected to Konecranes s platform and to MindSphere the cloud based, open IoT operating system from Siemens enabling students and researchers to access the crane s user interface. This also enables the crane to communicate with other systems like analytic tools or innovations developed by third parties.
